Persecution of Gays

So you want to force gay people to marry the opposite sex and procreate?

I don't agree with forcing anyone to do anything. But in the same way i don't agree with forcing a child in to an non natural family. I think it would be best to avoid that as a culture due to the importance of the natural family and the fact that its already suffered a major blow from feminism and the welfare state.

The persecution around the world in these "backwards" countries i think is rooted in this very idea about the natural family. It does stem from religious dogma but the religious dogma is routed in this idea in the importance of the natural family. Now i am not religious, i am against all religions. But i do advocate the natural family.

Where the backwards countries fail is because they use government and violence to oppress the population. Where the west have gone to the other extreme and in promoting social acceptability of homosexuality they are at the same time brushing a side the importance of the natural family and feminism has done the same thing.

The natural family is about a male and a female having a child and being the mother and father to that child. If another religion wants to allow additional wives, then biologically it is still a natural family because only one man and women can naturally have a child. In the environment sense it is still a natural family as the mother and father are present but there just exists multiple mothers. Its same as a step mother, say the real mother died at birth. The step mother takes the role on and it remains a natural family because the mother is present.

If there is a man and a women have a child and the women is never present because she works in another country for all the child's live for example, then biologically its a natural family but environment wise it is not.

Interesting view. I suppose it depends on which definitions of natural and family one chooses to use. I think you are using 'natural family' to mean your own preferred family setup. Anyway, we aren't convincing each other, are we ? :)

Activists of all kinds only fight their own corner; when is there going to be common sense in equality, everyone together promoting equality for all. I think the question of equality as a whole would be addressed better on one front, concentrating resources into a more powerful voice.

Speaking of equality; why is a religious, LGBT, race or any other minority protected by the law in the sense of hate crimes but the disabled are not, this should be addressed.

No-one is more important than anyone else; equality for all or it's not equality it's in essence favouritism and discrimination against those who do not have the same rights or protection by the law.

If gay people want to adopt and they are good people, they have as much right as anyone. I am a single father and the mother has little to no input but my children will have as good an upbringing as possible. I do not see how this is any different from two gay men or women adopting, single sex parenting is just that. On the whole single sex parents in relationships have an advantage over me, there are two of them making parenting easier.

People don't go saying 'he/she is straight', more like 'he/she is gay'. Why does it matter?

That was my point.

I know. I was just messing with your noodle. :p However, the fact remains, we all have multiple labels thrust upon us or even, self defined. There's no escaping it. Also, if you go on an online dating site, one of the most important labels is sexual orientation. So saying you are 'Straight' in that scenario is pretty important, don't ya think ? :p

Divorce rates.

How many people were raised only by their mothers here? I was after the age of 13. My parents parents were married 55 years.

What has that got to do with your point? Nothing.

My point was that the problem is the deterioration of the natural family and how I don't see how the acceptability of homosexuality helps that problem. If anything it contributes towards the problem.

You haven't explained what deterioration you're referring to.

The natural family is about a male and a female having a child and being the mother and father to that child.

Why is this "natural" to create such a family group? Many animals do not. Some human cultures do not.

The step mother takes the role on and it remains a natural family because the mother is present.

So, a family consisting of two gay men and a gay woman would also qualify as "natural" so long as one of the men is the father and the woman is the mother?

If there is a man and a women have a child and the women is never present because she works in another country for all the child's live for example, then biologically its a natural family but environment wise it is not.

"Environment-wise"??? Whatever.

I think it would be best to avoid that as a culture due to the importance of the natural family and the fact that its already suffered a major blow from feminism and the welfare state.

Ha ha ha! Yeah, damn those gay feminists benefits claimants, am I right? Please provide evidence for why the "natural" family is so important.

These threads make me laugh, due to political correctness how many users here are keeping quiet? I wonder.

Well I didn't think this was going to amount to anything at first, but then in came the thinly veiled homophobic arguments!

*crunches popcorn*

Edit: Also major LOL at divorce rates being blamed on 'the gays'! Is it because all of these feminists turned the men gay? And then they got divorced?

One can only hope, but sadly they have adoption and surrogacy as as option which shouldn't be allowed imo, it's just wrong and unfair on the child.

Wrong and unfair how? What do you expect to happen? Any evidence for it?

Better 2 loving dads than a lifetime in the system.

I wish the bum bandits would get their own word as gay means happy\light-hearted and carefree..

Well no not really. If should ask you if you are interested in Male or Females or both, should it not? That would then bring up results.
So if you were a male who was interested in males. It would bring back results with people who had chosen the same as you.

Poor come back. My point still stands.

I don't know enough about "the system" to comment but any child they adopt will have to face prejudice because they will be an easy target from other children at school and even as an adult they will face prejudice. They will be labelled and all sorts and i don't think that is fair as they were not given a choice.

There is also the influence from the parents which undoubtedly will effect the child's sexuality and how they think about men and women.

I am serious. I'm ok with gays and homosexuality. Its upto them if thats what floats their boat. But I don't like this new fashion for pushing homosexuality everywhere in the media. I don't like the idea of schoolchildren and impressionable teenagers constantly being told how cool it is to be gay. Its like an assault on conventional sexuality/normal heterosexual relationships.

I also don't like how many gay people feel the need to shout it from the roof tops and act like dogs on heat. Be gay, whatever, just stop shouting about it.

One in three young LGBT people attempt suicide. They are less likely to finish their education, participate in sport, and occupy senior professional positions in the work place. They are more likely to partake in health damaging behaviours such as high risk sexual behaviour, as well as substance and alcohol misuse. They are also more likely to suffer from mental health problems, homelessness and social isolation. Because of this, I don't see it as 'pushing' homosexuality or teaching 'impressionable teenagers' it's 'cool' to be gay. I see it as attempting to create an environment where young people who are LGBT won't feel so different, will feel more supported, and will feel like their identity is just as valid and acceptable as their straight friends. For straight young people I hope it encourages them to see their LGBT classmates as no different from them, and encourages them to respect the identity of their LGBT classmates in the same way they expect to have their own identity respected. To suggest that promoting acceptance of LGBT people and same sex relationships will encourage teenagers to be gay is like suggesting that black people can turn people black because racial equality is promoted in schools.

People don't go saying 'he/she is straight', more like 'he/she is gay'. Why does it matter?

That was my point.

LGBT people have to come out. The expectation is that a person will be in a heterosexual relationship with a member of the opposite sex. Therefore straight people don't have to correct anyone's assumption relating to the nature of their relationships. LGBT people do, if they want their relationships to be recognised by employers, colleagues and their friends.

Speaking as an 'LGBT activist' I agree. You'll never hear me claim that my equality is more important than anyone else's. I believe that disabled people are their own best advocates in their search for equality. I can support them in their search, but I am not disabled, I have no experience of the discrimination disabled people face, and I don't know what changes are needed to address that discrimination therefore I don't think I'm the best person to fighting for it. As stated above, that's not to say that if invited to, I won't support the cause of disabled equality. Of course I would. My experience of the equality journey comes from the LGBT stream, so it's natural I feel more confident as an advocate of LGBT equality (as a bisexual able bodied white male) than I would advocating racial equality, woman's rights, or disabled equality.

I fail to see what practical and emotional help a mixed sex couple can offer a child that same sex parents cannot.

*waits for somebody to say breast feeding*

Humans learn different things from both male and females. From females they learn how to deal with things emotionally etc and from males they learn how to deal with things more practically. Studies have been done that show men born from single mother house holds vs boys raised by mother and fathers have different results. I don't remember the exact figures and studies as i am not that in to it. But it was something like 90% of the young males arrested in a specific state in the us were raised by single mothers. The lack of a father figure in the household often leads to similar results.
