Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 12th February 2014]

The game tonight is set up so perfectly for the headline grabbing Utd win.

Checklist for the win:

1) Utd in woeful form and not looking like ending soon
2) A manager in denial and widespread discontent among fans
3) Backing from the opposition manager
4) Arsenal at the beginning of their annual February slump
5) RVP vs Arsenal

I mean this match can only end with a Utd win....

....now watch Arsenal go and win comfortably :p

After City's and Chelsea's recent games Im really not as frustrated about the Fulham result as I was on Sunday.

Ok they both played "better" sides than Fulham - but looking at the table over the last 25 games or so they arent that much different ( five points between Fulham and Norwich) and both City and Chelsea have spent far more on their squads in recent windows than Utd have.

I dont expect anything from tonight's match, I just hope Utd dont get completely battered (although thats what Im kind of expecting)

.

You should be, the year we finished 7th and Rafa was sacked our record was

W D L F A GD P
18 9 11 61 35 +26 63

Yours is currently

W D L F A GD P
12 5 8 41 31 +10 41

Your right on target for where we were, the Fulham result just emphasised how utterly mediocre you are right now.

Why will it?

Does he have history of it or something?

Just drawing comparisons to the Hodge :p You know, experience of an utterly clueless manager and all.

He wasn't replacing Roy Keane was he?

Sell Torres, buy Carroll. Or are we not allowed to speak ill of Kenny?

You could argue he was replacing Keane, as essentially you have never replaced him.

50 million for Torres was great business what you on about? :p (Luis Suarez cancels out Carroll imo, wheres Moyes' buy of the centuary?)

Chelsea and City both have a few flaws that have come to light recently, but we have plenty more. I'm still very annoyed about the Fulham game. Defensively and offensively we are a joke at the moment.

Our fight is for 4th place and as G|mp says above, we're pretty much out of that.

I'm more worried about performances than results for the rest of this season. I hope the players take it upon themselves to stop the ridiculous crossing game that so clearly doesn't work.

I've no clue if this website is any good, but the pictures are quite telling: Link

We can get players like Kagawa/Mata/Rooney/Januzaj in a creative formation that can actually pass the ball. But no effort is being made to do this whatsoever. If the results were there then failure to change tactics could at least be justified, but they aren't.

We couldn't look more generic if we tried. Moyes has also made no indication of changing his approach, assuming that if we cross it enough, we'll eventually win, which is stupid. He's even had the nerve to say:

"You need to have a football intelligence, a football brain, to understand first of all," he said of his tactics.

I mean what the ****.

I hope we take a whole new approach tonight but I'm not expecting much. If we were against any other top side than Arsenal I'd have completely written us off, but they do have the capacity to hilariously bottle it which means we could scrape a win.

Well he wasn't was he. We've never replaced Cantona either, shall we blame him for that as well?

So because you bought Suarez we should forget all about Andy Carroll? :D

Moyes has bought 2 players, it really isn't a stick to beat him with is it just yet because he hasn't took a gamble on a nasty little racist cheat? Like I said, when he makes stupid decisions like replacing Van Persie with someone who isn't fit to lace his boots, then you can begin the comparisons with ex Liverpool clueless managers.

"He will soon **** off the Man Utd fans because that's what Hodgeson did to Liverpool"

Really? :D

Some of the stuff he comes out with is cringe worthy but Roy Keane saying that Utd have been "cutting corners" in transfers recently isnt too far from hitting the nail on the head imo, and this season its showing.

Fellani for 27 mill (4 or 5 million more than his Buyout clause from a few days before hand I forget)

When the club is generating the cash like Utd are (~£100m / quarter) £4-5m isnt exactly that much to worry about.

Putting it another way, its probably one board member's wages for a year.

Inconsequential.

Your commercial activities at the time are not even close to what Utd's are now. Thats the big difference that your stats dont show.

Of course gate reciepts follow success (in the long term at the very least), but with all the sponsorships etc Utd are signing even CL football isnt essential from a finance point of view for a year or two.

And yet you've used the 1 player to berate King Kenny?

nasty little racist cheat?

You would be challenging for 4th if you had him though, thats 4th. Not the title. February and out of the fight for 4th, ouch :o

We're discussing inept Liverpool managers aren't we? Not just one player, didn't he buy Downing for some ridiculous fee as well?

And if my Aunty had balls she would be my Uncle, what's your point?

You made a stupid statement that Moyes is going to abuse the United fans because Hodgeson did it to Liverpool, now you're making up all sorts of crap.

I can do it to, if you had bought Van Persie last season you might have finished in the top 4 :) Being out of the top 4 is something you have experience of, how did you cope?
