New ROBOCOP

It's better than Robocop 3 IMO but yeah I'd probably only catch it at the cinema if you have one of those cineworld unlimited cards

It's getting more positive reviews than I gave it credit for; although that isn't to say it actually looks like a good film, maybe just not as bad as expected. Even looking at the poor trailers, it never looked as bad as Robocop 3; that was just a horrendous film.

In one reviewer's comment, he put: 'Every time RoboCop even approaches an intriguing idea, it immediately drops it to go looking for the next shiny object to bat at; it's a mess of dug-up parts with no animating spark of life.' Reading that makes me wonder what Padilha would have done, had he not been told what he could and could not do.

To think how graphic that was back in 1987 as a child. More so the acid scene. Though, the hand scene wasn't any better or was the car going through the body hearing all that squish.

It sounds like I was right when my mate was banging on about it getting good reviews and me saying it would be complete **** in part because the original was an 18 and this is a kids version.

I've not even seen it and I doubt you're right from what I've read about it.

Very few reviews are implying it's "complete ****". And I suspect it's very unfair from what I've seen and read about it to suggest this is the case.

Most reviews suggest it's a fairly mediocre/reasonable action flick that's a little bit lost in what it's trying to do.

Watched it last night, it wasn't too bad.

Grew up watching the originals so I'm a fan.

Few original references thrown in which wasn't too bad, soundtrack was similar too.

Seemed to concentrate more on the emotion side of becoming Robocop which was nice, rather then, "here's you new robo body, now get on with getting the bad guys".

Disappointment for me was Alex Murphy's 'accident'...was hoping it was as violent and graphic has the original, and I found the Villian vs Robocop was a bit wishy-washy...didn't really know who it was.

My 2 cents review :P

12a certificate so not a prayer there!

As I mentioned in the "What film are you watching" thread - In 27 years will anyone be quoting lines from this new film like they do currently with original, which is now 27 years old!

The same could be said for all the failed reboots TBH.
