eSRAM the reason Xbox One struggles with 1080p?

Clearly consoles are on a 'more' level playing field. I'm not sure why anyone is even trying to debate this.
Sure there will be people on consoles who customise gamepad etc. but the vast majority use the same gamepads, the same 1080p screen, the same console with the same graphics and detail and so on. Sure internet speeds are going to vary but there isn't much you can do about that.
PC's can have esoteric controllers/mice/keyboards, massive multi monitor setups, software hacks/cheats, Massive FPS boosts and so on. Clearly there is allot more variation. Variation that usually gives an advantage to the gamer with a bigger wallet.

You will give up trying in a few more replies, Spoffle is talking well......spoffle.

Rusty, I've had a look at the post and I can't see where the issue is.

Pointing out they're not a level playing field is not the same as saying that consoles aren't on a more level playing field compared to PC. It's not even subtlety the same.

In fact it's a different argument entirely.

The point being made (originally) was that consoles are a level playing field. Spoffle said they aren't. This then evolved somehow into accusations being made that spoffle said that PCs are a more level playing field than consoles. He didn't say that nor did he even allude to that.

Haha, Just flicking through the pages.

Starts with, the Xbox ONE will get better as the console and SDK matures. - Shock!
Moves on to PC gaming Console gaming comparison.

I've read this book before!

:p

I have a PC, and an Xbone :D
PC is a great spec. Better than PS4 and Xbone. I love my PC, it's better than both Xbone and Gaystation...
*insert additional PC willy waving here*
Also, honey badgers are real

The Xbox 360 had a better GPU than the PS3 but nothing on 360 comes close to the last of us on PS3 or anything else by naughtydog tbh.

Having a more powerful GPU does not always lead to better looking games. Whether that happens with these consoles who knows.

Wasn't the PS3 more powerful than the 360 but the 360 easier to program for?

any way I have played on a xboxone and thought it was ok, I think in terms of visuals it will be like last gen, sony will bring out games that will look amazing and Microsoft will bring out games that will look amazing, it all depends on what franchises take your fancy. I like gears, halo , cod , forza so I have no probs with xbox as long as they look good.

I seen games on the ps3 that looked great when I had a 360 but didn't bother to buy a ps3 because I was happy with my 360.

If all you play on a CONSOLE is multi plats then deffo ps4 sounds like the one to get but as I said it all comes down to the franchises that sony and Microsoft own to which console will end up being the best not graphics.

No one is trying to debate it, my argument was that consoles aren't on a completely level playing field. Others have twisted it into me saying something that I didn't.

I have already acknowledged that consoles are on a "more" level playing field, I was just disagreeing that they are on a completely level playing field.

There are far more things you can do on PC to give yourself an advantage, things that don't even fall under the cheating bracket, such as turning foliage down or off on online games, turning smoke effects off, stuff like that. You don't have that option on console so in that regard console multiplayer is a much more level playing field but there are obviously cheaters on both platforms.

don't Sony have equivalent franchises though?

e.g. Gran Turismo, Drive Club, PGR and Forza

I won't be buying both I don't buy enough games to justify it, I like franchises on both, but I picked Sony because it offers better value for money.

I have really enjoyed Gears and Halo 2 in the past but I cannot really justify having 2 consoles now, I don't game as much as I used to. I have owned both previous MS consoles and all 3 previous Sony consoles as well.

I never picked a console on franchises alone, I picked it based on all the factors.

PSN Plus is a lot better than GOLD
PS4 is better and cheaper than XB1
PS4 is smaller (fits better in my TV unit)

both have always had a good selection of games and equivalents available so it's not something I judged to be a huge factor in my decision.

On paper, the PS3 was a lot more powerful than the 360, but the 360's GPU was more powerful than the PS3's, then there were the issues of actually managing to get the power out of the PS3's CPU, which a lot of devs struggled with, so when it came down to it the 360's more powerful GPU was the important factor when it came to multi-platform titles.

However, with these latest consoles using the same sort of hardware based on the same sort of architectures, there isn't going to be a case where they struggle with developing for one console, but not the other.

The straight up difference in power between the PS4 and Xbox One will be very noticeable when it comes to games that aren't CPU limited.

How can you say you disagree with his comments when what you're disagreeing with is not what he is saying. Read the flaming post you've quoted in your reply.
Keep your hair on, and while you're at it, I suggest you read the post properly.

When it comes to performance and the inability to take advantage of graphical errors and/or graphical advantages, then consoles are on a level playing field completely.

The original post stated
The problem I have with PC is that not everyone is gaming on a level playing field.
If he was personally referring to performance only, then he's right. It was others here, spoffle included, that presumed he was also talking about networking, lag, ping etc, which he most probably wasn't.

I didn't presume anything, he's suggesting that console players are on a level playing field. They aren't, as there are various factors that come in to play which means it's just not the case.

See you're missing the point. How do you know he wasn't only referring to performace of the machine itself? You're presuming he was talking about other/all factors.

...

lol this is getting old.

console players are on as level a playing field as it gets tbh apart from say a proper LAN setup.

if your going to go into specifics about lagg, tv sizes, thirdy party accessories then yeah obviously it isn't 100% level but it's the closest you will get to one without a LAN, even then at LAN's gamers are allowed to bring their own mouses, KB's, etc.

whoever suggested that skill levels of individual players as well that was surely trolling, obviously some players are better than others, i doubt theres 2 player son the planet that are the exact same skill level they will always do something differently in certain situations, reaction times, habits, etc.
