What the hell is going on im sure some of you will remember the last time I had this issue with one of the waterblocked 290X's from OCUK.

We tried all sorts of things flashing everything.

The cards are spooled up fans spinning away I dont know what the hell to do.

End of my tether.

I have a Gigabyte OC board not the force model.

lol replace the motherboard with a different model no problem then tried another one same issue lol.

Seems like certain 290 have temper tantrums with certain boards.

Can I ask you something when running cross fire is it normal for a second card in the slot to show less band with look at this.

GPU 1

How are you certain its misreading? can you explain lol.

It just froze when i tried to launch bf4.

I just moved the second card from the 8x to the slot directly under the first card will see if it happens again.

that's ULPS mode. It scared the hell out of me when i first noticed it. if you're in 2d mode the card will virtually completely shut off saving you lecky

32bit bus thing - that's justs gpu-z no reading it right. there should be a little benchmark type thing in gpuz which if you turn it on should trigger the PCIe sensor to read correctly

Yeah it is :\.

I moved the card right up to the slot under the first card.

The cards crashed when it was in the other slot for some reason.

I may try it again.

95C tho :|

they are meant to run that high, maybe make yourself a fan profile in afterburner and improve your case cooling.

To be fair though, if you'd done a bit of research you'd have found out these cards run hot - it's not like it's a secret, it's been mentioned in every review.

Fan profile and a new fan or two on your case should sort it. Akasa Vipers for the win i say. the 14cm is pretty quiet as well

Er for the black screen - is that sorted now? how are you reading temps - does it just crash when you start games...what power supply do you have??

First port of call would be to give both cards a run on there own to rule out a faulty card.

They both seem to be running fine but I have not tried the second card in the primary slot yet.

I will switch them around.

How ever guys check this gpu usage out.

In Bf4 the top card is nearly 30 degrees hotter then the bottom and I think its actually hotter but the readout doesnt go higher then 95?
Second card - 60c
Top card - 95c

Not only that but the usage is strange.

Blimey where to start.

1. Did you update your motherboard bios to the latest version?
2. Update afterburner. The version you're using is older than Jesus H Christ.
3. Once the new version is installed, disable ULPS in settings. Its a nice power saving feature but unless you're worried about that its better to disable it and get a few percent extra performance.

4. Set the power limit at +50% and away you go.

On and btw, crossfire only works in full screen mode. See this thread to setup some overlays to monitor performance in game.
