Just curious how many of you are advanced ie have futuristic technology that you use regularly.

What I don't mean is that guy who changed his flat into the bridge of the starship enterprise.

But do you have advanced technology that you use fairly often or regularly?

I think the most advanced thing I own is my PC and I use pretty basic technology otherwise.

Don't have the top of the range smartphone, tv, broadband...

I still have a optical drive in my PC which I still see as being extremely neccessary.

So how technologically advanced are the posters on ocuk?

If you didn't understand the thread, just post what advanced technology you have.

Thanks

My laptop is connected to my TV in a fairly stealthy way and I play a lot of content on there either as just a regular second display or through XBMC.

That's about as futuristic as I get to be honest.

I live in a house surrounded by robotic lover slaves & have various cybernetic implants designed to enable me to assassinate a certain individual in 60 years from now.

Theres difference between having advanced tech and taking part in fads. You won't see me with sn ipad ever. But I do pay a premium for 300mb ftth. And im a dev for a living.

The only thing I can think of is people with a 3d printer(still waiting for mine :(, a pretty bad kickstartet, all they are shipping them extremely slowly). That is ahead of the curve. Pcs/tablets etc don't count.
I expect vary few people to actually have something ahead of the curve to post.

So no, currently I have nothing I would say is ahead of the curve. I was an extremely early adopter of pc on a stick, for hotel use when working away from home. But even that's not new anymore.

People getting an iPad instead of a computer is. People are starting to realise that actually it's a good accessory to a computer but a poor replacement for one.

I agree with that but some people just don't need a PC like Mrs Dimple.
Since I bought her a Nexus 7 off here she has never needed to sit by the PC but does everything she needs to do sitting in her chair.

Depends on what you think the future holds. If the machines take over and enslave us, I reckon I'm quids in with my 'dumb' watch, 'dumb' phone and reporter's notebook. The machines will never see me coming!
