Currently, mine is the Comfortably Numb solo.

Seeing this thread title I immediately thought the same thing - Comfortably Numb.
I kinda like the solo in By the Sword by Slash at the moment, so I'll go for that one.
Comfortably Numb every time, solo in Time is acceptable too![]()
There's lots, Bass solo's from Iron Maiden's powerslave, stranger in a strange land.
Any of the guitar solos from Megadeth's Rust in Peace album.
However:
Jaco was improvising all of this.
When he was 19 years old.... totally blows me away.
He went on to play more complicated solos... (check out Weather Reports 'Havona' to see what I mean) but his groove on this is just sublime.
I'd be hard pushed to choose a favourite solo from rust in peace, I mean, they're all just so good, with dave and marty contrasting harmonic style... dave is always the angry one haha. That album is just one superlative after another until the end.
EDIT: the only negative thing I have to say about that album is that the remastered version just doesn't have the same edge as the original release - yeah, they're the same songs, but they don't sound right. If you can get hold of the original release snap it up, it's a masterpiece.
EVH's from Michael Jackson's beat it.
It just works so well musically with the whole song. Plus I can't think of another solo so epic it caused the lead artist to change skin colour.
Solo after Alice Cooper is guillotined in the trash tour was pretty awesome![]()
Parisienne walkways by gary moore, crazy train by ozzy osbourne, thunderstruck by ACDC or that thing lil wayne did (I'm joking. i'd rather stick a power drill in my genitals rather than listening to that s*** ever again)
