A friend of mine has asked me to find out if anyone nos what the difference is between a Weston digital black drive and a Weston digital blue drive except the black drive being more expensive and having a longer warrenty. thanx

Generally black ones are built to higher standards and have the premium price and longer warranty. There shouldn't be a significant difference in performance.

Blue was aimed at media, and you find them inside WD and Sumvision media players.

Blacks are for performance.

The black will be faster.

WD site tells you what each is primary for.

From Western Digital website

WD has segmented our storage lineup into easy to recognize colors that give customers the power to choose the right product for their needs. WD Blue for everyday use. WD Green for capacity. WD Black for performance. WD Red for network attached storage (NAS). And WD Purple for surveillance. WD offers more than a one-size-fits-all storage solution. WD offers choice, and providing that choice drives everything we can do together.
