News about a relatively small-time YouTuber.. why would you assume we have heard this 'news'? He has less than 100K subs, whereas the 'big time' YouTubers (e.g. PewDiePie) have over 20 million subs.

It is not news, and it is not immoral.
 
no idea who he is. had to Google him and you are right, he does look like an idiot.

Seems to be an actual idiot too! inferior machine purchased!
 
Never heard of him but, in principle, I don't see the problem.

People in general will pay money to be entertained (TV, Cinema, footie matches, theatre, video games....). If they find him entertaining, and are willing to show their appreciation by handing over cash to make sure he can continue providing content then who loses?
 
Some people are mugs and give money away without thinking why.

I don't have anything negative to say about him, but it's a little bit cringe-worthy.
 
Hadn't heard about it as he's hardly one of the big name youtubers - however I fail to see the issue here, regardless if you personally like his content or not a good number of people obviously do and were willing to donate to help him create more content that I'd assume they'll continue to enjoy.

His income and overall need for the Mac don't factor into it as it was an optional donation, and to be honest your opening post comes across as you being bitter and jealous of his situation.

If you think that's bad you should see some of the donations these twitch streamers get for sitting playing games. Hundreds ranging into the thousands a day sometimes.

Never viewed his videos but cant see the problem. The guy is producing content which people obviously enjoy as they have invested in technology to allow him to continue or improve his product.

No different to any other form of investing ??
