I have a cat, and obviously what he done is very cruel. But any custodial sentence is quite a serious punishment, and 18 weeks is punishment enough.
He won't be doing it again.

That is very interesting and fits in with some thoughts I have been having on an unrelated matter. I will make a post on the subject in due course!
You can use reasonable force to defend property, I suppose if that property were an animal lethal force may be considered reasonable?
There's also reduced sentences for manslaughter by provocation.

Even more hilarious, sad and a bit worrying is that in that particular scenario I would watch you burn alive and I wouldn't feel the slightest bit of emotion towards you.
if you take a life then you should loose your own life and we should have the lethal injection or electric chair,dont feed them and use governments money to keep them alive in prison,thats where this country is spending waisted money.

I really don't see the point in banning people from keeping pets, because it's largely futile.
How exactly is it enforced and how is it kept on top of? It's not like the only way to acquire a pet is by going to an animal shelter, and giving them your details (which you can of course fake if they don't require ID).

He probably deserved more, but when you consider some of the sentences for beating up people then it is probably not too far off, not that I agree with it.
It upsets me whenever I see things like this happen to animals. Yes ok it's not on the same level as kicking a human to death, but that could have been someone's much loved pet; and yes, she's "just a cat", but if someone hurt my cat I'd be devastated beyond words.

I would imagine you could only reasonably use lethal force if your or another human's life was in danger, not an animals.
