GTX 770 2GB - 27" \ 1440

However for the other games your second GPU will largely be 'wasted' because assuming you'll be frame limiting or using vsync to minimising screen tear means you'll be capping to the refresh rate.

No and my refresh rate for my Samsung 971D 60HRTz running at 85HRTz and l set the games refresh rate in the options to 85HRTz > Ghost, BOPSII to name 2.

I have a 1440 monitor and a single overclocked 780 and most games run maxed out. If it doesn't I drop MSAA to 2x which produces a miniscule drop in IQ at this resolution and then it is smooth. You don't NEED two GPUs but having two will mean you'll max out 99% of games. However for the other games your second GPU will largely be 'wasted' because assuming you'll be frame limiting or using vsync to minimising screen tear means you'll be capping to the refresh rate.

Which part are you saying 'no' to?

**Vsync to minimising screen tear means you'll be capping to the refresh rate**

Never used Vsync yet or capped my refresh rate, my Samsung 971D refresh rate is set at 85HRTz. If the game options allows me to set the refresh rate l'll set it at 85HRTz.

I play old as well as new game's, yes some games don't support SLI, but on the whole my SLI 670 have never gave me any trouble BF4, Ghost, BOPSII, COD Series, Need For Speed Series l could go on.

Regarding **frame limiting**, not to sure what you mean by that. Do you mean limit my FPS in a game no l'll set that to Unlimited-BOPSII or what ever the game max will allow.

Have gamed with a single 670 then added the 2nd 670 and it does make a difference. Everything is just that bit smoother never had any of the problems regarding BF4 lag etc, Ghost, a bit mouse lag change settings. Just the first few days when people are downloading the game or the hosts connection or laggy players.

You'll have to excuse me lol l'm nearly 60 and not quite up to scratch with the jargon . Still get myself mixed up with certain things, the nearest thing to a PC or calculator was your fingers and toes in my school days..

Still learning something everyday.:)

@ oldfart, what some do and myself included is cap you frame rates to match or be 1 fram lower than your refresh rate, this for me minimizes input lag, some enable Vsync too but you have to play around and see what works for you best

People with 60Hz screens will suffer from input lag more than those with higher refresh rates, but even they can set the frame rates to 59fps and enjoy little or no input lag

It works for me and has improved my K/D ratio as a result as i was 0.82 at one point and going crazy, now over a period of time im now 1.01 :)

Im using a 770 2GB at this moment @ 1440P, and its coping ok, not great or as smooth when i drop the settings to high preset from ultra, but still playable and not slide show performance lowest fps i seen was 38, and average was 55 to 65 most of the time, so not bad for a £215 plus 770, but still get the 780 or R290 if you can

If you're not using vsync you'll be getting screen tear. Most people don't like that and use vsync to remove it though some people don't mind. Either way having a frame rate above your refresh rate is still largely wasted as the extra frames aren't displayed by the monitor.

You're older than Gregster. That takes some doing :p.

@ llamadal Since when is the 680 or 770 a top of the line card and costing £500 now?

You need get over the fact your 680 is old now and was only 0-18% faster than a 580 depending on games and is crippled DP wise.

I made a mistake going from a 580 to a 680 but at least it was 4GB so at 1440p I did gain some help over the previous cards 2GB.

1x 780Ti is about the same as 2x670's/680's (dependant on what games).

I said was for a long time.

Get over what fact? nothing you have listed/said is fact as for saying my 680 is now old, that has nothing to do with it and not even the card I have now, or the rig in my sig (which is stuck and cant change btw).

idiots need to use some common sense, if you want max on everything without compromise and no care on cost, then you will need the best stuff out, and at higher res, sometimes 2.

If you want comfortable at med/high then you would do just fine.

No V-Sync can give tearing not will.

Sony FW900 = no tearing even in high FPS benches far above the HZ.

Still to see it with my own eyes on my screens, have seen it on some 60-85HZ LCD's and videos posted.

V-Sync then add Triple Buffering adds even more input lag to an already lagging LCD.

If this 3 year old monitor dies I will need to jump of a bridge or look at the new Asus.

Thanks for that TAZOO7, you have refreshed my memory.

Regarding K/D ratio as l say l'm nearly 60 and l don't do to bad, its more of a case of old age and health problems lol. Now and again l get accused of hacking which to me is a complement.

My frame rates in BF4 are not bad, can't remember the name of the maps in BF4 which l checked my FPS. But setter said when l posted them in BF4 thread were not to bad.

He's a young whippersnapper compared to me lol, even my Zimmer frame is camouflaged. :D

I know what screen tear is and can't say l'v suffered from it, as l say l never needed to use it Vsync .

Nearly 60 tinkering with the PC and reading the forums is my hobby and gaming keeps the Brain from shutting down.

The Boss never bothers me when l'm on the PC as she can watch the telly in peace and it keeps me out her way lol.

Any need for name calling?

Not always necessary to get the best stuff out at all, not everyones budget is the same, not everyone is obsessed with doing more FPS than there screen can display, and some like my self are not bothered about IQ, get the best you can afford
