I just saw this, not sure if its real...
And nothing wrong with a PRS, I dunno why you hate it tbh. It sounds great and it looks awesome.
where strats by design are supposed to have fuller, rounder, harmonically reacher sound.
Strat is for those who want bright, twangy, sparkly sound. Tele is for those who want even weedier, brighter sound and don't care about versatility.
You have a doubt that strat is designed to be less weedy, bright and sharp than Tele?
Hendrix used Strats on his records. What was your point about tele?
Strat is for those who want bright, twangy, sparkly sound.
You are referring to RPM era, but there is a reason why BB king switched to Gibson ES-355, and although it is not the same as Les Paul, never the less, you don't think BB's later tone, with Gibson Lucille, is full and growling?
Well look, you think my posts discussing history, construction and sometimes OCD details of gear are BS and you want to conclude I know nothing about guitars. That's fine. Don't mind me, shine on, do your thing. You don't mind if the rest of us keep on posting among ourselves, do you?
Because the world is just that black and white every time?
It looks like Easyrider has gone back to his old ways - shame![]()
il be honest ray, i think a lot of the hate is the fashion now, talking with a mate who plays in a band who has prs and bc rich's and he just laughs at how its gotten worse and worse the more popular prs have gotten the last 10 years or so.
end of the day if it sounds and looks ok i cant see a problem with any guitar, sure there are ones id not want to own but i dont jump up and down going on and on about them like people (not just on here but on other forums) do.![]()
end of the day its like playground mentality (and from my childhood) what trainers you own, if you cant afford or buy the wrong one your made fun of for no other reason than you picked something they dont like.
Ray should learn how to play the ******** thing first. I can't stand people who Talk the talk but fail to walk the walk.
You are making a fool of yourself now. Many other instruments at the beginner level cost the money ray has spent on the PRS.
.
I bet you would approve if I got a Strat or tele though for the same money.
As for walk the walk. I am trying, it's only been 6 weeks ! I openly admit I am not great at it, but why does that stop me spending my money that i earn?
Well, i work hard so I didn't feel like I want to punish myself...it's not really a rite of passage that it has to be walked on for everyone. I am sure if someone gave you a Les Paul standard when you started out you would take it. (except no one gave me my guitars).
If I happen to hate it, i am sure i can pass it on for a profit. So it's not really a concern at all.
But it feels great in the hand to me, compare to a les paul. It's lighter, it is thinner, i like the contour body shape at the back. I like the neck. I like the idea of the 5 way blade switch over the push pull caps.
easyrider said:You are contradicting yourself. You make massive sweeping generalisations. You just got to sound like a first year degree student doing popular music.... It was nonsense...Contrived and filled with hot air....
You pigeon holed every guitar player in your last post...
Saying a strat player was a mondeo and a PRS player was a Aston Martin...Not me
A PRS owner is not an Aston Martin driver....
Fact is...PRS are not Aston Martin owners...
The guitar has been purchased for looks....And thats a shame.
Ray should learn how to play the ******** thing first. I can't stand people who Talk the talk but fail to walk the walk.
I have a work colleague who bought a guitar so it looked cool in his front room when girls came round...
At least it will look nice on its stand when not in use.
I think that PRS is fugly...Its not PRS hate its my opinion.
A PRS is about as interesting as an episode of Eastenders....or Downton Abby ?
The headstock is laughable and the birds cringe worthy....
Flamed maple tops on guitars are like Clitoris guitars...
Every **** has one![]()
People have called my Zebrawood " driftwood" before...I don't care...I'm not insecure enough to worry about itBut at least only 400 other people in the world can have and own a Gibson LP driftwood

Look. It's a great guitar for the price. Any of us would be over the moon lucky to have something like this as our first solidbody electric. Most of active players won't have such instrument in their life time. One could do much worse than PRS for a "one and only" guitar. For the money it was definitely better choice than current "under £1200" Les Paul range, and better investment than current "under £1200" American Fender range. I'd be more disappointed if Ray thrown over a grand on a US Tele or US Strat as his first guitar. Buying undervalued boutique studio guitar instead is really not a shame.
Yes, Ray could have purchased several used guitars for the money but he wanted one guitar. That was his target. One guitar that's universally good to play, last for years no matter what genre of music he decides to play and in the same time he wanted it to be aesthetically pleasing nice to look at when he doesn't play it (keep in mind Ray is one of the best photographers one encounters on internet forums). I think he succeeded. It's going to be pleasure to pick it up and fantastic feel and sound will encourage him to do so every time, I have no doubt.
Pressed to the wall I would admit that my advice would be to go for PRS with pull/push coil split, just so he could get closer to that single coil twang when he inevitably tries to emulate his hero - "The Boss", but there is so much good craftsmanship in this Custom 24, you can't really fault it. I'd personally buy one immediately too if I found one mint for that kind of money.
