This might go on a while, so let's just watch Ronnie Renner ride his electricmotocrossmountainebikehybridmobilityscooter

I'd personally kick his arse if he rocked up my local and destroyed our tracks with the thing.

That's an illegal ebike (in the UK) though which wouldn't be allowed on the trails/bridleways - it's more like an electric MX bike. They are more relaxed about in the US though. Normal legal ebikes don't rip up the trails anymore than normal unassisted bikes. Mines legal and classed as a cycle still, not a motor bike.

This is a normal, legal ebike:-

In other news I just got my new power assisted rowing machine, its great the motor takes all the effort out of what would really hard work. :D

Sounds great - where did you buy it?

In other news, gears are going to be banned from XC trails and single speeds only allowed, as gears make it easier to go up hills.

I really don't see the point of an electric 'MTB'. I can kinda, just about, see the point for a city cycle or something like that, however.

Hey guys, slight problem with my new cube acid bike, its not gearing properly at the back, for example, when its on the biggest chain ring at the back and i i try and up shift, it doesnt slot into the next cog properly, seems to catch on the one above it... but only slightly. Im guessing something needs adjusting but i have no idea what as i dont know to much about bikes, so thought id ask before i start messing.

The two screws determine how far the mech moves one way and the other (used to stop the mech over shooting the biggest ring and coming too far into the frame)

althought i dont have the thing to turn clockwise or anticlockwise to tighten/loosen the cable

It should have an adjuster like that on it somewhere.
If it's not directly on the derailleur, it might be somewhere else along the cable. Underneath the frame at the top near where the forks attach is another common place for it.

Ok guys, ive not had much luck with my on one 456evo as of late, broke the forks a few weeks back, and now while moving it around in the shed, a few heavy tool boxes fell onto the bike, bending the rear mech quite bad, its now lost its stiffness and quite a lot of play now - thankfully the SS mech hanger is still straight (phew), rear wheel needs 4 new spokes (sorting that tomorrow at LBS), but the point of this, im hoping to replace the forks and drivetrain in the next couple of weeks.

So with that in mind, and on a bit of a tight budget probably around £600 could go a bit further but not sure yet, what would you suggest? second hand is always open, as all my forks have been so far, probably why i go through them so quick buying duff ones to begin with, i know this is a stupid budget to do this on so i appreciate any input.
Forks, around 150-160mm max 1.1/8" 15 or 20mm axle
Drivetrain, i was running 1x9 sram, x7 rear mech, x5 shifter pod, dont remember the rear block gearing but standard i imagine, and a 36t normal ring upfront, want to keep with the 1x9/10 theme + chain to go with it all.

For me they make sense for people who used to ride but now struggle due to health problems/injuries. If I was no longer able to ride uphills unassisted I'd certainly buy one as I'd still want to get out into the countryside. Hell, I'd like one of these now if they weren't so expensive.

On completely unrelated topic I popped into Newcastleton on my way up to Edinburgh today and I'll change my opinion of it slightly. It's still the worst Stane I've ridden, far to short only 16km (1:15 for me and I'm not fit) for the combined red/blue but the first section of the red is good fun and it's worth calling into if you're passing close.

As I'll be done up here by lunch tomorrow it seems rude not to call into another Stane on my way home. I'm thinking Innerleithin at the moment due to the forestry work at Glentress.

What's with the chavvy attitude?? No need whatsoever.

Whilst it *may* not be everyone's cup of tea it is still a bike... sometimes I wonder if people think before they type on here.

Indeed I recall some articles on singletrack or IMB about a motorised mountain bike - will try and find it/them later.

Some of the elitist crap in this forum is depressing. If electric bikes can help widen the appeal and get people with health issues out on the trails I really don't see the problem :s

:)

I'll post back some vids of it on it's first off road test (got a Countour Roam 2 on the way) - glad to see some people are a bit more open minded :-)

Zee rear mech, zee shifter and either a narrow/wide chainring (amazing) or keep your 36 upfront.

I use a 32 upfront.

Please don't, we've had to much excitement here already, my little heart can't take it.

Hang on a second, did you miss the point of that conversation entirely?
If he said he had in fact health issues and is the reason he uses them, hell - who on earth would give him crap about that? I'm an elitist snob maybe, not a heartless/soulless ginger.

He just professes not to want to get too sweated up and all yucky.
