Big Bike Thread

It's mostly banter... I wouldn't get your knickers in a twist, lads. ;)

I know :)

But I'm used to it - being an ebiker posting in an mtb thread is like being an immigrant benefit claimant attending a Daily Mail Appreciation Society dinner :D

Hang on a second, did you miss the point of that conversation entirely?
If he said he had in fact health issues and is the reason he uses them, hell - who on earth would give him crap about that? I'm an elitist snob maybe, not a heartless/soulless ginger.

He just professes not to want to get too sweated up and all yucky.

I do have early onset degenerative arthritis which is particularly severe in my knees, wrists and ankles, but that isn't the reason I like ebikes.

Perversely, my physio reckons the cause was a lot of cycling (and crashing in particular) in my "development" years that brought it on!

This thread is like the unfit fat kid who always gets picked last has finally found someone fatter to make fun of and is taking out the rage from all those years of abuse on him.

Now try telling me i'm not an MTBer!

As I'll be done up here by lunch tomorrow it seems rude not to call into another Stane on my way home. I'm thinking Innerleithin at the moment due to the forestry work at Glentress.

Do Inners do Inners do Inners! :D

You might get slightly sick of climbing at the start, but the descents are more than worth it. Keep your eyes out for a few sketchy rocky bits, and pop some elbow/knee pads on if you have them. (Speaking from experience)

I did and the weather/trails were lovely. I've ridden it a few times before and it's slightly better now I can mentally prepare for each climb. The first time up I nearly packed it in on the long fireroad climb after the first descent, now I just stick it in a low gear and spin. It really is worth it once you hit the summit but I still hate the climb at the end of Plora Craig as I feel like I've done more than enough climbing by that point.

Now lycra and bar ends can have a place on a mountain bike but there's absolutely no excuse for bar ends on riser bars.
