Thanks
I'm currently experimenting with lots of different liquids so might not know if its the coil/wadding tasting bad or the liquid, do they have an average life span?

I'd say on average about 2 weeks maybe? Been a long time since I used anything like an Evod. Hopefully someone that uses them more will pipe in if I'm way out.

Just ordered an MVP V2. I like the idea of being able to use it as an emergency charger. One less item I need to carry in my bag.

If you were to use a mech mod with a kick or a kick + fuse for 2x protection, would a mech mod be as safe as a VW mod such as provari, zmax, vamo etc? I am thinking of getting a mech mod + kick but I am a bit paranoid about batteries burning my house down or burning face off etc. Is a mech mod + kick as safe as a VW mod? Does a kick or kick + fuse have exactly the same protection features as a VW mod?

I use a mech mod without a kick, and if you are confident with your coils and can test them for shorts before putting it on the mod, its not needed imo.

Full details here about the kick, at the bottom of the page
http://www.evolvapor.com/shop.php

or
"The Kick has all the operational safety features of Darwin with low voltage cut-off and short circuit detection/activation-prevention.
IMR batteries are REQUIRED. Boosting uses more current (amps)."

I already know about IMR and decent charger, but I would just prefer that I can vape knowing that a) my face is not going to get pelted with battery gas and b) my flat will not burn down. Reading about it though it says that a kick will be the same as a vamo in performance eg. it still uses a 33mhz PWM with the "rattlesnake" effect, so maybe it would be better with a fuse and change the battery regularly. If it is going from 4.2v - 3.7v though would this not taste burnt on a full charge and then not powerful enough at lower V. Meh maybe I should just get a zmax although that will probably break within a year :/

My iClear 30b turned up today. I've been vaping it for the last hour instead of my usual Protank 2. Here's my impressions:

It needs more power than the Protank 2 to produce good vapour (9W vs 6W)
It vapes nicely with a fairly tight draw
It doesn't contact properly on the SVD with the vanity collar in place
The build quality is leagues worse than the Protank 2. Pastic vs glass tank. Thin metal vs thick metal

It's OK but meh for the money. I'd rather buy another Protank 2 than get another 30b.

I use these precautions:

1) Buy good quality batteries with a suitable amp limit. I use unprotected imr batteries as from what I have read if something does go wrong then they don't explode but rather give off lots of heat/gases instead.
2) Check for short circuits on the mod and the atomiser coils.
3) Regularly check your batteries voltage to avoid over discharge and use a good quality charger to ensure you don't overcharge your battery.
4) Remove the batteries from the device when not in use.
5) Ensure your mech mod has vent holes to allow the gases to escape should the battery fail.
6) Don't stack batteries as this doubles the voltage.

Just to add, my xtar charger will charge my battery to 4v and I usually swap the battery over at 3.6-3.5v and the performance drop is minimal.

Feel free to add to this if anybody else uses any further precautions.

Another one would be get one of those £3 "lipo charge bags" and put your charger in that, so if it did explode (unlikely with good batteries and charger) then it would burn out in the bag and not your flat.

Think I will go with a mech mod because if there was some sort of ban on import of vaping gear, then a mech mod would likely last forever, if it ever comes down to having "cig a likes" made by big tobacco scum being the only option I think I would have to give up vaping. The VW mods seem to break a lot.

I'm sure they couldn't enforce a ban. They would just sell them as a VW / VW portable charger or something like that.

Probably yes but for example you cannot get batteries through customs so they could, but for example you can go into a shop and buy a bong for "essential oils" or stuff like that so there will probably be ways around it.

Pffft. After getting the 18650 tube from Luxe mods, I realised I had another mech mod minus a switch available, as the hybrid dripper kit comes with a 510 top cap as a bonus....

So.... I went to Luxe Mods and bought a new switch. So here's the Luxe dripper in 18650 vs the Kayfun in 18350. Sweeet as a nut.

This means I can run low ohm coils - up to 0.2 ohms on the dripper and up to 0.8 ohms on the kayfun.

That's it. MUST NOT SPEND ANY MORE ('cept on Joooose) ;)

Scope does the best juices imo. Try all of them mate, they are all good. :)

Top guy aswell.

Yeah man I've had the Apple tart which was amazing and he chucked in a free blueberry which was also nice, the peach though is just sublime!

Dont need to, very good explanation :)
also just to expand on the battery, dont exceed the amp limit for your battery, a normal 10amp battery is fine to about 0.8 to 0.7 oHms iirc (correct me if i am wrong) any lower and i would go for a high drain 30amp battery like a VTC4

edit.
here is a good guide

Looks like efest are the best batteries, price / performance.

I think going below about 0.5ohms is pretty pointless anyway.

I use Efest and working great so far, 1ohm is my sweet spot, nice flavour and plenty of vapour clouds.
Have just received a Caravela mod through the post and am expecting some funky new juice in the morning, will post pics tomorrow with a write up for both :)

I've finally caved today, my Ego twists are starting to die a slow painful death after nearly a years use, so i've finally bit the bullet and got messen a Sigelei zmax v3 a AW 18350 battery and a 18650 with an Xtar charger, can't wait :)

On another note, my buddy let me borrow some kanthal, silica and cotton a couple of days ago to let me start making my own coils, he also gave me a clone of a Kayfun, not sure which one though but after two days of trying i just can't get a good coil, i don't know what i'm doing wrong... so frustrating, but i have to say i've got the mini nova and full nova Aspire clearos and they are really good, so if after a couple of days i can't get these coils sorted i'll just stick to them, oh and i've just ordered that Innokin 30b clearo, see how that works n all.

If you don't want the Kayfun give me a PM

Did you receive the Chefs Vapour Banoffee Cookie Dough and try it yet? Any good or needs steeping before you can tell?
