Should come with us and do some big boy jumps :)

We're out end of July though.

I walk away from those unfortunately :(
Self employed and with only me working, starving kids take my focus away when Air Voltage sized jumps come up (that's my excuse, and I'm sticking with it :) )

How that fat ******* jumps a bike, is beyond me.
I know weight doesn't matter much, but hell he's a helluva large guy.

I sold my hard tail and can no longer ride my road bike to work after coming off it this morning.

The breaks are shocking and the road bars hurt my hands so im ditching it. It was a cheapo bottom of the range and i was told id get used to it but its not for me.

I was thinking about getting either a 29er hard tail or possibly a flat bar road style bike with disk brakes.

Or possibly something battery powered :P

any of you guys ride anything other than a road machine on your commute? Really wish i hadn't got rid of my hard tail.

Definitely get an e-bike, you might get yucky and sweaty otherwise.
You can even ride in your suit to work!

OK, I'll stop :(

I ditched my Bianchi C2C roadbike, in favour of a Halfrauds Carrera subway. It was a much more comfortable journey in to work (potholes everywhere!) and also had flat bars / disk brakes. Not the best spec, but I quite enjoyed cycling to work on it.

Lurker going to make a post now. :D

I've been looking at the bike to work scheme considering work is only 5 miles away, and its getting nicer outside. I do wan't to go offroad sometimes too

What are everyones views on the Cube Analog 2014 26?

Looks like a pretty good bike, Cube and Giant seem to be the only brands any cyclescheme shops use around here so stuck for choice.

Anyone know wether I can get a quote from an online retailer to use the cycle to work? I want the 2014 Mantra Pro, but no cycle scheme shops stock it. :(

Cheers

Probably one Supercow can answer here.

I've a DH bike which has a 8-speed shifter and standard 8 speed cassette, but I'm thinking about sticking a 9 speed DH cassette on it as the gear ratio's are closer - but I'd prefer doing this on the cheap if possible.

Can I use the SRAM 9 speed DH cassette and remove the lowest cog - or just fit it and setup the 8 speed shifter to use the lowest 8 gears? Ta :)

You wont be able to do it (properly) either way.
The spacing between sprockets on an 8 speed cassette will be different from a 9 speed cassette.
You can use a 9speed shifter + 9speed cassette with your 8speed derailleur though.

Crap forks. Wont matter too much on the 5mile commute to work, but should you ever decide to take it on a trial you'll notice the fork struggling. I'd look at the Halfrauds range or the Rockrider 8.1.

touch is correct - it will work, but craply.

Just bite the bullet and get a 10SPD (Zee group!), or stick with what you got.

Rockshox are better than Suntour though?

I can only get bikes through the CycleScheme.

Which don't list halfrauds as a seller.. So can't do anything about that really.

The bike will do what you need it to. MBUK are usually do decent reviews on For "Sub £x00" group tests", so it's worth checking out their articles if you can get hold of them.

Halfords aren't on cyclescheme though.

I want to change as when doing DH (admittedly I don't do a lot) I find the gap between 4 and 5 on the cassette too big ratio-wise. Bike came like this 2nd hand.

Would a 10 speed cassette fit on my current hub? I may have an old 9 speed shifter that I may be able to use, come to think of it. Don't care about having 10 over 9, I want the shorter ratios of a DH cassette.

Going to go to the shop on Saturday and have a ride on the Analog and the 27.5 Attention.

I can upgrade the forks at a later date if they seem to struggle. Now I get 200 quid off. :D

Cheers, useful to know.

I didn't mean that you should mix 10 spd with 9 spd, that wont work either.

A 10 speed cassette would work but you'd need a new chain, shifter, mech and possibly a new front ring. Why not just buy a close ratio 8 speed cassette, they're really cheap now, eg http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-hg50-8-speed-cassette-road/
