Cost me £2.99 I think, the prop' has 4 sections which I will fill with coco coir for seedlings/hatchlings for my new chilli seeds.

good thinking :D

im testing a DIY self waterer/propagator with my smallest Aji at the moment.

my other Aji's are loving the sun over the last few days, their 3rd leaves are starting to get much bigger..

How are you finding the peat pots? I have used them for the last two years but have not bothered this year. Although they do make transplanting easier, I just found they dried out the soil too quickly.

Yes they do suck up a lot of the moisture unfortunately, but they are so convenient that it's a small price to pay in my opinion.

Certainly ended up with more seedlings than I expected (or wanted)!

I always do that :)
Last year I didn't have any of my own, due to having a bad knee which made gardening hard. Knee is much better but it still disagrees with me gardening.

This year I have loads again
The idea is to decide how many you actually want to keep, and count how many you have. Next you select the healthiest of each type that you have and cast the rest aside. You then decide what to do with the cast-offs. I will be taking mine to work and displaying them with a sign asking for a charity donation (a local animal sanctuary) for each plant adopted.

Others benefit from your genetic selection experiments - WIN WIN WIN ;)

Yes I was surprised to be honest. I always keep my seeds in the fridge before germinating them, the temp change helps, I'm also using a Garland grow light garden, which is basically just a couple of fluoro lights, they seem to love them when they are seedlings.

Had a nightmare with my Butch T not one has germinated, been waiting 6 weeks and nothing and only one Cpp naga out of 12 has germinated. heat was no problem been in a very warm room with clear plastic cover to keep the humidity up, gutted about Butch T'S was looking forward to them. Any ideas what i did wrong guys just my secon year growing.

It could just be some bad seeds. I would check the temps of the room (min-max thermometer will do that, if you have one) and ensure the seeds are in darkness, not drowning or dry, and just use pure water (no feed).

A fellow member sent me the seeds as i was looking for some butch t's was experienced grower also, i put the seed direct into seed pots same as last year which worked fine, this year looks Ti** up. Gutted

Despite turning the propagator off, a few plants have curled up due to the heat today. I have now closed the blind because it's a south facing window and obviously they don't want this much heat at this early stage.

Correct, but they usually recover after a few days IME. Better to avoid shocking them though.

Totally misjudged how hot it would be. Left the lid off for now and no direct sunlight. Will leave it powered on tonight and maybe take the lid off in the morning.
