@platypus, I hate to disappoint but that rusty old Peugeot above looks like the fork is bent back, the front wheel is almost touching the down tube. :o

Edit: Also check the seatpin will move.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the fork. And yes, the seat pin is fine.

Not really sure what you're trying to point out. This is a bike I ride every week into town, and if I had more time (and money) would spend the effort restoring to the former glory of the Peugeot TdF team. I spent a while trying to find components/decals and did so, but decided it wasn't something I could afford last year.

Thanks for your monumental input though.

Your welcome ;)

Looks like its had a heavy frontal crash at some stage to me.

I'm surprised you hadn't noticed.

33.3 miles today @ 17.6mph average on own.

My 2nd ride of the year so quite chuffed with that although my legs were burning on the hills. Managed that on 100g porridge, 2x bananas, 3 slices marmalade on toast. :)

So glad the weather is picking up! Damned cold and wet plays havoc with my injuries!

Chaps, does anyone want a Peugeot/Reynolds 531? It's a decent little goer, in good condition (surface rust though), one I wanted to restore it to a TdF Peugeot team glory but just have never had the time. Going on Ebay soon if not.

How much are you after?

Treated myself to a new bike;

My Scott Sportster will now be my wet/winter commuter and I'll bring the Mekk out on nice days. Also bought a pair of SPD-SLs for each bike and some dhb shoes.

Spent a bit of time on the Scott to get used to them and fell off the first time I tried to set off :D Thought I had the hang of them and went out on the Mekk a few days later... utterly petrified at the thought of falling off and damaging it!

Very pleased with it. Not the best bike obviously but miles better compared to what I'm used to and a good spec for the price IMO. I was considering the Cannondale Caad8 Tiagra but it felt like I was paying an extra £250 for the name.

Another A grade race today, got smashed, but just poor decision making really.

Couple of breaks came and went, coming to the CAT4 climb I got on the front before the climb riding ~350w, thinking I can slide back a few spots if the pace is on. All stayed together pretty much and I dropped back a little but kept up despite puffing towards the top.

There were two guys out front in a break, about 7km from the finish there is a U turn, they had 25 seconds then. I wasn't sure if they would stay away, a couple of other guys were doing turns on the front, I did 3-4 big turns at 500w+ and we closed to within maybe 5 seconds within 3km. Unfortunately that was my undoing, I did a big turn, got us close enough and then everyone else who had been sitting on jumped across to the two on their own. I had nothing extra to get on the wheel and was dropped 3km from the end.

Only lost 10-20 seconds overall by the time I rolled in. It wasn't the fastest or most attacking race. A couple of guys said good job helping pull the break back so it's all good, lessons learned. I wouldn't expect to place in a bunch sprint anyway.

36km, average speed of 38.5kmh, 300m elevation gain, average power of 248w, weighted average 287w, max power of 1211w.

Over 2 minutes down on my best time, but that was done in a handicap race where everyone was really hammering it. Second best time up the CAT4 climb, my best was done when it was used as the finish line and I sat on for ages then just smashed the climb so was rested.

I might upgrade to strava premium if it shows you stats like 3, 5 and 10 second peak power to help see if/where I am improving.

Had a lazy week, only 120km. Will get back on it this coming week and get 200+ in again.

It does. It has a max power curve and you can draw 2 lines on it, choosing to use the last 6 weeks of data, all of a year, or a custom date range. Can see 3, 5, 10 or anything you like (mine seems to show up to 1.5 hours but not sure if that is just because I've not done a session on trainer road longer than that).

Saw a guy fall this morning on the exact spot I crashed a few months ago. As for when I crashed, it was completely dry!

Damn shame too as he was riding a Ti Enigma with full Enve finishing kit and Mavic R-Sys SLR wheelset. *drools*

Nice bike agw

Not going to go out today

as you know I did a big ride last Sunday, bonked halfway round, anyway, I went out on Wednesday and my legs were still hurting, went out 2 days later (Friday) and legs still hurting, woke up this morning, and still hurting, so going to miss the ride today :(

Do you have a foam roller? It really helps to roll the leg muscles out.
