Well I decided last night to try farming for the Hellfire Ring. I gave up after I realised that you get four portals that are random at spawning when you use the Infernal Machine, and that you have to recraft the Infernal Machine each time you want to open a portal, which means key boss fights over and over again. What a ridiculous mechanic, I don't have hours upon hours to spend trying to get something that will give my new characters a massive boost, I get such a small amount of time to play the game as it is. I had no idea last night that the Infernal Machine was a single use item, so we used it last night, did the boss fight, got nothing from it, and then when I went out to restart it the machine was gone. It's hard enough when you get into the boss fight with the drop rate for the organs being so low, but you've also got to contend with the Keywardens and their random drop rates and also spawn areas. I'm all for making things a bit difficult, but finding and then farming the same mobs over and over again is a bit silly.

^^ think your missing the point of the game tbh, The very nature of it is a grind. Wont exactly be good if they just made getting the top tier items easy now would it.

Its supposed to reward people who put in the hours, not the other way around - this is the exact reason why the AH was removed and the exact reason that loot 2.0 has got players in their droves returning to what was effectively a dead game.

Farming over and over again is the whole basis of the game really, farming for loot upgrades, for paragon exp etc. Thats what the game is.

I quite like the whole infernal machine mechanic, it gives another objective to the farming so theres more of a reason to do it. You have to move through all the acts (well 4th act only till you get the plan) so it makes you mix things up too.

Can easily farm a machine in an hour or two, then join a game with at least 2 others with a machine and fight all 3 uber bosses for a chance at a ring :)

Try not to use 1 machine at a time. As its a random chance of which bosses you fight, using 3 machines in one game means you will always get to fight all 3 (as each boss combo can only spawn once per game). This means you have less chance of ending up with loads of one kind of organ and none of the others.

I may be able to help with this on the weekend or something if you want. we just need a few of us with Infernal Machines ready and we can do some bosses.

I'd be up for some of that this weekend, can make sure i've got a stash of machines ready to go :)

My mate will probably have some machines too, he usually jumps in my key farming games.

It is just another random element of luck in a completely luck based game though, D2 was similar, and it's sadly going to be the way all action RPGs with loot work. I had 6 keys of terror and 6 of destruction, yet it took over a day to get 3 keys of hate from that damn Oasis, and then I hear of people having the KW spawn very close or right on top of the waypoint and dropping the key...

Funnily enough, they're usually the people with all the best rolls on the best legendaries that can drop...

Some people say luck isn't even a thing!

I like almost all the new additions, except the huge problem of account bound items. Now, with bind on pickup, the whole trading part of the game is destroyed. It's going to pretty much be a single player game after the auction house is gone. A player could go weeks without an upgrade because they're forced to find it themselves. Were I to find two of the same items, I can't give one to a friend. I can see this causing problems in the future.

How do you know the account binding isn't temporary until the AH is gone? Suppose they wouldn't want people making billions off of all the massively improved gear that is dropping. That's what I hope anyway.

That only applies to legendaries and set items, you can trade yellow's still etc.

Plus, if your in the game with your friend when the legendary drops you can trade it to them for the next few hours or so after it drops.

Not too bad I don't think, especially with how often better items drop now with loot 2.0

I have a reasonably good solution in my head to the account bound issue.

You should be able to gift/give away the item only for a really short time after finding it, something like 10 minutes or something. Only to someone in your clan or friends list or something too.

That should stop most people being able to find a buyer or trader online, which I think is what they are trying to stop.

It would be nice to give away an item I can't use to someone else in the clan if they wanted it :)

I'll check what my account number is later so you guys can add me - If anyone wants to farm some Act 2 keys I am up for that too as finding the KW with multiple people is way easier, and I have plenty of Act 1/3 keys.

That was my first real grind last night, back when I first started playing this. I just went through and finished the game one difficulty at a time, I didn't really bother with 'runs' or any of that. Got 5 legendaries in 5 hours, went up about 4 or 5 paragon levels.. never counted the gold but I know it was a ton. It's a good easy run on T2:

Quest - Rumford at the Gate.

1: Kill all the wretched mothers, they have an extremely high drop rate and are easy to kill.
2: 'Samuel' the mini-boss seems to spawn 75% of the time on T2, a little less on T1. Lots of drops after killing him.
3: Hit every cellar you see, between 2 or 3 of them 50% of the time you'll get another mini-boss and sometimes you even get a cursed event. On the last one, I ran into A LOT of treasure goblins.
4: Kill the wretched queen, both her and Samuel give lots of drops.
5: Waypoint back to town, talk to Rumford to complete the quest for XP.
6: Repeat.

You don't see a lot of elites or champions on this run and even when you do, most of the time they don't follow you even if you get close. It's my favourite run right now, very low risk high reward. Will be running it again tonight, could probably run it on T3 or T4 for better XP and gold if I get someone in with me to run it. Test it out yourselves today and see how you's get on.

I hope you are correct, although I expect they will keep it in the game.

I see what you're saying, however legendaries and set items are the kind of items which you would want to be trading. It gets rid of the whole trading meta-game which was so popular in Diablo 2.

You can already trade for a short amount of time I believe, but I don't see why there should be a time limit. Legit players will have a worse gaming experience because a small percentage of players want to buy and sell items.

I think a better solution would be to firstly remove only the RMAH, see how it went, then remove the gold auction house. Removing both, with the addition of account bound items is too far in the other direction. People who enjoy the trading part of the game are now forced to grind to get better items, you can no longer trade your way to the top.

Let's say I'm a barbarian and I find a perfect legendary item for my character, except it's got intelligence. There's nothing I can do to get one with strength, and the item is useless to me.

1. Loot 2.0 means that the items will have the attributes relevant to you does it not?
2. I believe the mystic in the expansion lets you change the attributes on items or something like that.

I do agree with you though, trading should be allowed.

N IK O Ohm

Those were the days.

The new mystic in RoS can scrub out stats on an item and replace it with something random, you could do that until it drops you strength but with 2.0 the chances of finding a int wep on a barb is low, but I have found dex and str gear on my wiz, but it's very rare. I'd imagine the chances of getting a legendary that is also enchanted with the wrong type of main stat is so slim, I'd hate to be that unlucky. :p

I'm enjoying it, some improvements I would like to see

1) You should be able to trade non-smart loot items with no restriction.

2) You should be able to roll better than 4/2 on non-smart loot rares. This makes chasing trifectas with other good stats or bracers with primary/vit/all res/crit/+%damage impossible. They should be rare, but it should be possible, otherwise ultimately everyone will be wearing full sets of legendaries (since they can break this rule) rendering yellow items redundant.

3) You should be able to slide the percentage of smart loot drops. This then trades off the risk of junk items versus the chance at something *really* special and also tradable.
