Bob Crow RIP

I can't believe some of the comments here. Regardless of liking/disliking the man, comments like "This is the best news I have heard all year" are so disrespectful to his family. No need for that at all.

Just because you're an extreme leftist

You should just take it on the chin like i did when thatcher died, and Bob Crowe was far less important.

no the fact is people got banned for being disrespectful and making unnecessary comments, like what is going here, OCUK mods needs to be consistent

Though let us not forget that Mr Crow himself said he hoped a frail 87 year old grandmother would "rot in hell" when she died.

Do unto others...

As much as I despised everything he stood for, he's still a friend, father and a human being that has died and left behind many people that will mourn him.

Irrespective of your feelings for him, please show a little restraint from your nasty comments.

All underhanded and defammatory comments from this post onwards will receive a suspension.

You have been warned.

Please show a little respect - if you didn't like him, don't post, or at least be adult about your response to this news.

"Mr Crow got his first job on the underground at the age of 16, fixing rails and cutting down trees by the track."(BBC website) What sort of trees grow by the edge of underground tracks!?

+1

I was no huge fan of his but he only did what he thought was right by his union and the workers he fought for. Of course he caused me many yrs of tube disruption but i wouldnt wish death on him.

RIP.

jeez, young... RIP. He certainly fought his corner.

wow try District line, Piccadilly, Jubilee to name a few.

A lot of the network runs overground:

The total length of the London Underground network is 402km (249 miles). Since the total length of its tunnel route is 181km (113 miles) or 45 per cent, its overground is 55 per cent which is equivalent to 221km (137.323 miles).

It's cool to hate Bob Crow however I listen to lbc a great deal and he was really the only person to take the media and politicians to task regardless of his views.

Massive character, will be missed.

But it doesn't stop him being wrong on a lot of accounts

Lol at people thinking it was Crow calling all the shots and setting all the strikes. Some people have no idea how a Trade Union works (most of which are more democratic than any other institution in this country). Nothing happens without the members proposing it and then voting for it.

Crow didn't call the strikes, the members did. Crow was just the public figure head - someone for the Mail to throw bile at - and credit to Crow for being willing to stand there.

RIP - a true character of transitional Trade Unionism.
