Bob Crow RIP

The idiot that called a strike and stopped the tube dead in its tracks? looks like karma caught up.

The members called a strike, not Crow. General Secretaries of Unions are not Dictators - they're all voted in by the membership remember.

Tell that to Arthur Skargill (the one who called an illegal strike and killed off the UK's mining industry, then shifted all the blame onto Thatcher and retired to a nice mansion paid for by union fees).

He died young, rip. Not long before the moron comments I see.

The guy was a tool who made fun of the deaths of political rivals, it's called karma.

Retrospective argument is invalid*

We also we're one ruled by Kings with a divine right ;-)

*and you're wrong anyhow as the members voted to strike and 6000 were already on strike before the NUM declared a national strike*

Wasn't it recently proved that Arthur was right about the government plans to close more pits which they publicly denied at the time?

Nope, he called a strike without balloting (because he knew he would lose as most miners were in favour of the cuts designed to safeguard the industry) hence why the strike was illegal and the government were permitted to freeze the assets of the union.

Next you're be telling us you believe in the tooth fairy and a god.

Ahem:

Bob Crow said:

No, but it was proved that after his unions assets were frozen following an illegal strike, that he contacted the USSR to try and get funding on the basis it would cause major problems for the UK government. And that until a few years ago his second home was STILL being funded by the union.

While Skargill did strike without a ballot, he was right about them closing pit after pit and seeing families becoming destitute with whole towns destroyed by the closure of the pits.

Regardless, this is about Bob Crow and nothing to do with Arthur Skargill and in my term of being an RMT Rep, nothing major gets done without a ballot from the members and this includes pay talks/strikes.

RIP, but frankly, good riddance too. Strike after strike after strike for employees already earning good money at a time when millions don't even have a job to go to. Disrupting business and commuters in london on a regular basis. You can't hold back progress, driverless trains will happen and automated ticket machines mean less need for staff. All Bob Crow did was selfishly clutch at straws whilst ruining day to day life for other people.

Just googled that as I'd forgotten:
"I won't shed one single tear over her death. She destroyed the NHS and destroyed industry in this country and as far as I'm concerned she can rot in hell".
Nice. Stay classy.

Right back at you Bob, stayed fat (which probably didn't help in the end) creaming money off honest working folk and lived the high life by propagating unneeded divisions to give himself a purpose.

Whilst my regards go to his family as it is never nice to lose a loved one he certainly won't be missed.

You cannot pick and choose. Any restriction on earnings is in essence a communist state whatever you want to call it. Any country that has tried to adopt a political stance left of centre was regressive. And only capitalists have ever provided progress.
I suppose that's true if you ignore all of human history prior to the relatively recent rise of capitalist economies and ignore the incalculable amount of suffering inflicted on humans for the sake of making a few bucks in the handful of centuries since.

Historically, they may have served their purpose but their bullying tactics have no place in a growing and modern capitalist society.
Worker productivity has soared in the past 30 years but wages (when adjusted for inflation) have remained stagnant and are now in decline.

Why should a union give a toss that its actions undermine 'growth' and 'efficiency' when those nebulous benefits never accrue to its members or anyone else who hasn't chosen a career in shifting around money?

People shouldn't become immune from critisism because they are dead.

And to go even further and be glad he is dead is fine also. His political beliefs were so incorrect it is of benefit to me that he is dead. I am happier for it. Perhaps his family will shed a tear but I wont.

Yeah it isn't nice but it's the harsh truth.

Even more so for Thatcher.
