The Console Market Is In Crisis: Hardcore gamers better off with high end gaming PC than the current

I like the PC not being "mainstream", having little kids F'ing about this and that used to do my head in. I like the fact that the PC Is for grown ups and people that have to put a bit of effort in to game

The PC gaming community is just as toxic as any other tbh.

PEBKAC isn't always the case.

I wanted to play the Prepare to die edition of Dark Souls. Installed it from Steam, At which point I had to then reinstall the games for windows software. And then I launched the game, You'd expect it to play.... Nope. Crashed.

Tried again. Crashed.

Had to go do a bit of research, apparently uninstalling Games for Windows software, and reinstalling an older version fixed the issue.

Dark Souls on PC is pretty well known for being a terrible port that takes a lot of effort to work and then when you throw in GFWL as well :o

Hopefully Dark Souls 2 won't have the same problem.

LMAO

i'm running windows 7, i have also tried vista

the game just won't work with something specifically in my system yet all other games work fine.

and the game ran fine on the previous 3 systems using the exact same OS's.

i believe i also had the problem on XP with this system, i just checked my backup OS and it is windows XP, so i have tried 3 different OS's and this system has a problem with CSS and CS:GO

it has to be the motherboard or drivers for the motherboard that don't work with the game causing the glitch. i've ruled out everything else.

My PC is Quad core i5 with 8GB of RAM and a mid end ATI graphics card.

it exceeds all the specs by quite a bit.

Not that there is any point in asking you this as you're clearly just using it as a stick to beat PC gaming with but have you actually tried reformatting the drive and installing only Windows, up to date hardware drivers and Steam? Can't say I have ever had a problem with a game where it turned out that a particular component in my PC stopped me playing the game.

I'm sure there are loads of people who can play it just fine with the same motherboard that you have. It's probably a software problem or a PICNIC scenario tbh.

Unlucky then, still not sure how it relates to your point?

If you have a driver problem then that's your own problem.

I have done that and uses 3 different hard drives all with different operating systems.

I would love for it to work as it's a game which has never been replicated in terms of gameplay.

When it was working on my old systems I was never off it.

I love PC gaming because of high quality dedicated servers.

I'm not prepared to buy a new system as this one does everything else fine.

Also how come no other game I play on this PC has issues?

Nothing has an issue but both the recent cs games.

It works fine on my laptop so its not a network issue.

So it's a specific, isolated, actually quite old game, not "PC Gaming" per se? Good luck running a PlayStation game that is that old (so PS2 or 3 era) on your new shiny PS4.

We all agree the best combo is ps4 and pc, if you only got a wii u and xbone you're gunna be petty gutted tbh lol.
Other way around actually, all the PS4 has is superior GPU power and my PC wee wees all over that at 1440p with everything maxed. I'd rather duo it with a XO for the flexibility, home media hub stuff and better console exclusives. The "PS4 is more powerful" argument becomes pretty pointless if you have a half decent PC as well.

So, best combo is Gaming PC and XO or even Wii U for the exclusives etc tbh lol rofl wtf. :p :D

Counter Strike Global Offensive was released on August 21, 2012,

1 and a half years = old?
I seem to remember it was also released on PlayStation at the same time, can you play it on your PS4? Older games on a new device is significantly more of a challenge on consoles than it is on PCs

CSS was 2004 - how would you run a PS version of that on a new PlayStation now?

So on a PC old games will run fine for most people on a new device albeit you are having a few problems with one specific game. On a PlayStation you can't play a 2 year old game on your expensive new device at all.

Justsayin' ;)

Ermmmm... so what point were you trying to make, i'm confused :D

You can build a decent enough PC for £500 or less that will run Titanfall at 1080P comfortably, unlike the XBox One.

Agreed, can do a lot more than just gaming and watching TV as well.

If on a limited budget and could only afford one gaming device, it would PC every time. For those that have the money to buy consoles, PC's and everything else. Rational thought doesn't apply with regard to the cost etc. I.e in actuality the PC can be far cheaper long term than consoles, and do a lot more stuff as well.

Titanfall Flagship game 792p and it's struggling.

But then again it's not all about the graphics is it??

Xbox off..... If they release it in Japan which they seem to be holding off it will be a mammoth fail worse than the 360 and sorry to say that's the truth.

Disclaimer: in my opinion ;)

So is this thread a PC circle jerk? :)

As a PC gamer myself I am always surprised at the constant self-affirmation that goes on among most PC gamers. The new consoles seem to have lit a fire under their proverbial ass (so to speak)
Anyway, I have an Xbone (yay) and it's kept me off the PC for the past several months. Not a bad thing, but I sure don't feel the need to wave resolutions and i7's around in a way that makes me look like an utter tool (most comments sections on Gamespot and IGN are full of idiots like that)
Anyway, "PC more powerful than console shocker*

Yeah man, consoles suck. DX486 ftw I can build a Linux based PC in yo mamma that can run Titanfail at leetz reZ

Fo Sho

Consoles don't suck, the Xbox One is the only exception. Seriously why do you honestly think they dropped the price in the UK only a few months after release.... Microsoft know it the devs know it's and the public are finally realising they've been stiffed.

Yes the PC will always be superior but I tell ya the PS4 nailed it this time round and I see green life boats everywhere.

Only reason I prefer PC over consoles is that some genres get miserably excluded like Civilization (lots of RTS), X-3 (space games in general like Freelancer) and the niche games like To The Moon.
Also, I agree a console beating PC can be built for £500, but that's a low end PC, so even though you can e-peen over consoles owners, you'll be laughed off the forums by the £500 on one GPU crowd (another reason I stopped PC gaming, I had to have the best of the best).

And with that, I'd say you're going to steer this thread nicely into another argument.

I was being sarcastic. I am a console gamer as well :) I own an Xbone

So every other PC game is fine, which kind of negates your point about PC games are too hard to get working on 2000 billion different specs.....
