The Console Market Is In Crisis: Hardcore gamers better off with high end gaming PC than the current

Jesus, the children that occupy the console forums.
I think it's just a bit of fun banter, don't think anyone is really seriously comparing a PC to a console. Besides after all the stick the PS4 folk have given the XO folks over "GPU Powah" it's funny to see them get all huffy when someone says the same from a PC perspective. ;)

*i'm only kiddin'* :D :p

Yes the PC will always be superior but I tell ya the PS4 nailed it this time round and I see green life boats everywhere.

Well, its a shame there's nothing to play on the PS4 atm isn't it :p
I begrudgingly purchased a PS4 because all my friends had - and whats online gaming without your friends?

Long story short, we now have XB1's also because of Titanfall - there's just nothing worth playing on PS4 atm :/

I didn't say everyone...they know who they are though. Don't get defensive :)

Oh I'm not. I've been on both ends of the scale. I do not understand this pathetic caste system that gamers seem to have invented. I think the real crisis is that nobody is actually playing games, they prefer to argue about them instead

Probably nothing worth playing ;)

Yes, or buy three GPU's and sqaubble because they got better scores than joe blogs, i always thought a GPU was for playing games, now we have mining chucked in, but yes like your post we need to play more instead of the churn out garbage that seems to come from elitists.

Much cheaper games at launch, free games, Steam sales.

Say you spend £500 on a PC.

Someone else pays £400 for an Xbox One.

The average Xbox One game price £45

The average PC game £30. (Let's forget massive Steam sales for now)

If both people buy 15 games over a few years,

The Xbox One user spends £675 on games. Total cost of XB1 and games £1075

The PC user spends £450 on games. Total cost of PC and games £950

Already recouped the extra money spent on the PC. Now think about a typical 6-8 year console lifespan, the savings would be much more. Plus PC games more often than not drop quickly in price, Steam Sales are very good value for money as well. Also the PC can be used for productivity, work, media creation. It is a better value system than a console.

All I'm saying is if you had to pick one device only, the old argument that PC gaming is more expensive just isn't true anymore..

To fan the arguement a bit more, I think the race of tech has fallen behind the platform race, best content and online gaming is the winner these days, the enduring popularity of the PS3 and XB360 proves this imo.

What £500 PC (from 5 months ago) is going to be able to play games launched in 6-8 years time smoothly with a decent level of graphics? Bare in mind you get a very good controller with the PS4, therefore I would want a standard keyboard but a decent gaming mouse included in this £500 budget.

I game on both but your comparisons are just ridiculous.

Well if you mean comparable to an Xbox One i.e 720P any old PC would do :p

Here is a very quick example of a £500 PC. It will play games in better detail and higher res than Xbone. Hardly ridiculous as you say but it's much easier to troll than add something of value to a thread. In terms of what you get for your money the PC is far better value, cheaper games. Many times more functions than locked down consoles / TV boxes.

I'm sure if someone looked around for deals you could down a fair bit as well, but we'll use what £500 at OCUK would get you as a starting point.

You'd need to upgrade the PC a few times within the span of 6-8 years since games don't get optimized for a certain spec like they will with Xbox One and PS4. You are also forgetting mouse, keyboard and OS.

All the money the user could save on games could be spent on any upgrades over the lifespan :p, while maintaining a much better quality of gaming. While the Xbone will be forever 720P..

If I had to choose only 1 it would be PC, thankfully we're in the first world so a lot of people can afford multiple devices. Point was PC gaming is not expensive or as difficult to get into as it once was..
