New American Football team in Hertfordshire

I have just joined the Welwyn Hatfield Mosquitos and am looking to spread the word, if you fancy giving American football a go then check out the Facebook page.

Good to see some more people getting into the sport in the UK.

When did the club start? What position do you play?

Should be quite easy to get a good following down in Hertfordshire. Just use the Hurricanes as Feeder for the senior team!

If you ever want any friendlies etc then let me know. I play for Sandwell Steelers and we're coming into our first season, starting 20th April.

Have liked the main page but didn't request to join the group you've linked! I figured that's only for players/staff!

EDIT: I'll also say you'll have some great coaches if you get anything from the University. I really hope they stuff Birmingham Lions this year too!

The team has been up for 2 weeks now.

We are in the early stages but two of the coaches from the Uni have offered their help and expertise.

its good times! really nice to see more teams emerging, and you are in a really good area for it.

Who are the coaches? I'm sure Jim Messenger will stick his nose in at some point, he's a nice bloke and knows his stuff! Tends to be more involved in Women's tackle football at the moment though. Saw him at the weekend actually!

They are notoriously the hardest guys to replace... you can get skinny fast people that can catch (or not catch) from soccer teams. Big guys you have to go hunting for!

Not the case in Welwyn/Hatfield area which is why the Mosquitos were started.

We had 14 turn up for training plus one of the coaches from the University of Herts which was a big help, very good practice and if not for work schedules we could have had 18+. We are growing at a steady rate and we are pleased with our turnouts after 3 weeks.

14 bodies after 3 weeks is pretty amazing going to be fair... I think we started out with something like 8-9 for the first Month or so...

We're inundated now though, just over a year later! I've got 4 people wanting my Starting position at Safety!

Its all about spreading the word! I keep Sharring the Facebook updates from your club too

(the ones that I see that is!)

Shame you are a patriot though, you will be celebrating in Feb I think.
