Looking for advice on electric bicycles...

Due to medical reasons there's no way I'd be able to pedal a normal bike for more than a couple of minutes, but I don't want my young children to miss out on taking their bikes out. So, I got to thinking about something like this:

The only on I've seen which is a Pedego you charge up from the mains. I think it will go a fair way without pedaling.

Well some quick googling suggests otherwise that they can go for miles before needing a re-charge.

The huge battery... What exactly do you think an e-bike is? Segways are slow and quite dangerous compared to an e-bike, they can only go over even terrain too.



If you can't pedal much, then I would recommend getting a bike that has a crank drive motor and not a hub one, as hub motors don't put out much torque so would struggle going up hills by themselves. Also just so you're aware, using the throttle is technically illegal, but that's not ever going to be an issue in reality.

Thanks for that, I know nothing about them, just thought the idea of them sounded like a good way of me still being able to get out in a bike. The idea was for more sort of off road type areas, liked woodland cycle areas, so fairly flat, but I'm guessing it's best to go for the crank drive anyway?
