Nice red wines under £10?

I think my aerator came from ... http://www.vinoair.com/

My blind test was same wine straight from the bottle at around £5-6, the wine that hadn't been aerated definitely tasted somewhat harsher, I think the aerator helps take some of that edge off a wine as soon as its drunk from an opened bottle.

It also may have less of an effect as you move to more expensive wines, and what about each wine reacting differently to an aerator not to mention everyone's taste buds are different, some may be more sensitive to particular flavours?

In my opinion you can't go too wrong with 'Ogio' or 'Dino' wine sold in Tesco. Both brands have ranges of red and white and I'm yet to have a bad one. I typically get the white Pino Grigio, but do get the odd bottle of red on occassion. They normally sell for approx. £9-£10 a bottle, but there's nearly always an offer on one of them making them half price.

Asda Extra Special Primitivo is great as is their Nero D'avola

both decent at around 7 quid..but can be had on offer for a fiver

great value..but both are full bodied and dark..not a light sipping wine

their extra special Fiano or Falanghina are also worth picking up if you have a white wine drinker in the house..much better than a pinot grigio

I think Italian wines are excellent at the moment and provide good quality for their price

look for bulls blood, it is hugarian I think, been made the same way for hundreds of years and is a cracking little red but will need an hour to breathe if you want the best out of it...

Does anyone know of a red rine that is quiet creamy in taste and not so bitter?

you probably want a wine with low tannin

a Barbera is soft, low in tannin but pleasantly fruity..usually cherry-ish

a pinot noir would fit the bill..but maybe go californian ( better value and a wider appeal) or new zealand (can be quite pricy for a decent bottle) rather than french

If you want a bargain Rioja for every day drink or in cooking/sangria try Vega Roja from Tesco. £4.69 and really not bad at all.

For something nicer, any Ribera del Duero is usually well above the average if you can find it under £10. They're not heavily oaked so don't expect complexity, just an easy drinking party wine thats fabulous with cured meat and cheeses.

Something from Chile or a Malbec as someone above said.

Don't think I've ever had a bad one and been drinking them since visiting Buenos Aires a few years back.
