*** The Official Dark Souls II Thread ***

I hope the Black Edition fits through letterbox?
Can't recall how large the Dark souls 1 box was for the artbook/OST edition.

I'm heading home in a minute like from work to have some lunch so if it doesn't fit hopefully it turns up when I'm there as I told my mate I'd drop it off for him later today

The actual box size is pretty much standard PS3 Bluray, it was the fact that it was double packed that made it too big to get through the letterbox.

Not opened the seal yet, almost tempted to go buy a normal copy and see how much I can flog this one for on the bay...

Mine is still showing as "Out for Delivery". The damn thing better hurry up, I finish in just over 2 hours. If it doesn't arrive by the time I leave work I'm going to Asda to pick a copy up. I've got the next 5 days off and I'm not coming back into work on Monday just to get my copy of it.

OK well hopefully mine isn't double packed then. Postie didn't turn up while I was at home for lunch.
No card through either but they usually come around 1pm ish to my house and I don't finish until 2pm so will have missed them (assuming it comes at all).

If not, I'll just ask my parents to drop in over the weekend and pick it up fro mthe post office depot if it didn't fit through. Would just prefer to know it's there....although I think depot keep packages for 3 weeks so shouldn't be an issue anyway

had a quick 10 mins but after a crap night with my 2 year old im too tired to concentrate so ill finish south park off tonight then get my ass handed to me over the weekend.

not impressed with my decision to preorder at GAME, £49.99 for the black armour edition yet £39.99 on their own website, still picked it up as i know if its like the last 2 souls games i will get a good 60-100 hours out of it.

I'm home, changed, put the bins out, and fed the cats. Come at me Dark Souls :D

I am on holiday atm, and have just gone through a kind of ritual before starting...I have basically given the place the biggest clean it has ever had, got some dinner ready for later, been to the shops for a few bits and am about to have a bath. Only the will I be truly ready;)

Now to wait 'til dark...

DS2 tip!

When climbing down a ladder, if you tap the sprint button you will jump off - to your death if you're high up.

Worth noting as the game does not tell you this, yet in previous games this action would slide you down the ladder instead.

Sneaky little change
Just a quick note on this - if you hold the sprint button as you descend a ladder, you will slide down like you did in Dark Souls :)

Edit: Holding sprint while you ascend a ladder makes you climb it quicker.

Got my copy this morning, loving it so far, it feels very....different to Demon and Dark souls, its quite refreshing. Beat the first boss so far, took me a few tries as he's a bit awkward to fight (he telegraphs his attacks but he's quite tall and said telegraphs are often not on screen).

There are several additions I don't like, the weapon degradation rate is disgusting as is the price of repairs, the fact you lose health the more you die without using an effigy is flat out insulting, failure is punishment enough, adding the health loss mechanic is an incredibly petty way to increase difficulty/force effigy use.

The only combat issue I've come across so far is the inconstancy of animations, I find that often I can roll cancel attack animations but other times it flat out doesn't work, leaving me to get cut to ribbons.

So far, really enjoying the game but I'm concerned with the way they seem to have tried to "one up" themselves on difficulty, it just feels a bit artificial. Oh and the frame rate can be a bit iffy.

Also the game seems to be a flat graphical downgrade from the first game which is slightly strange.

Hey Davey, is there any chance you could try DS2 with a PS4 controller assuming you have it on PS3? I'm without a PS3 controller right now and something about the controls feels really wrong when using a PS4 controller. I'm really hoping it's different because I'm really not getting on with them at the minute.

I've tried and tried to love this game today (as Dark/Demon's Souls being in my top 5 games ever) but this feels all wrong. It's like they've tried to make Dark Souls as a Dragons Dogma mod, it just plays slow and clunky.

Why From, why?

Honestly could not agree more. There's something that just feel so wrong. I'm hoping half of that is down to some kind of poor implementation of the PS4 controller on the PS3 but I'm not too sure. The framerate always feels like it's hovering around 20 FPS too but maybe I've just been spoiled by Dark Souls on PC.

I'm enjoying it, though wish I had waited tbh. It looks horrible! And the framerate drops pretty much everywhere.

I habe died once in about 2 and a half hours so far, and that was due to accidentally having my bow out for some reason.... I hate the ps3 controller!
