Ugly Trainer Designers

You are old. Samba is a fashion trainer, but is an excellent 5-a-side addition.

Aye. Don't get this at all. Leather Sambas are for playing 5-a-side in. Suede Sambas are for indoor 5-a-side. They're a "fashion" trainer cos they look good and they're comfy like slippers.

Tennis shoes are comfortable like an orthopaedic shoe. And haven't been in "fashion" since Agassi had a mullet.

This thread makes no sense. Neither do many of the replies.

I have the top Adidas shoe in the OP!! Great shoe 3 years and still going strong. Though I am not too clear on UK's classification of trainers and sports shoes, but those kind of shoes are called sports shoes where I'm coming from and not trainers ie you do not wear them with jeans but for the GYM/sports.

Agree with that.

But the choice is there, unlike the back end of the 90's where pretty much all you could get were mainstream fashion.

With retro being a 'thing' im happy as larry i can live 80's trainer designs.

If not a little expensive, the like of Size supply and lobby companies for releasing old product for exclusives.

I see those and raise you ..

You posted Vans in a trainer thread. That's not a raise, that's a defeat before you've even started. Vans, DCs and all the other cack sk8rboi fat slippers don't belong in here.

Wearing them for sport is fine, but not with jeans, as you state.

I still wouldn't wear them to the gym though. I own loads of pairs of trainers that I wouldn't ever use for the gym. That's why I own Asics trainers. They are all ugly, but perfectly functional.

Adidas Beckenbaurs are a good choice of understated shoes

Nice cushioned inch heel drop. Enjoy your shortened tendons, lack of flexibility and all round weak mobility chain.

Do people really think 'minimalist' is a fashion statement? Christ almighty go look up barefoot and minimalist shoes.

Wouldn't own them purely on the basis of the name. Cheating ****s.

What?

Has anyone seen those trainers that have the toes shaped at the front, looking a bit like those silly toe-socks ? They really look stupid.

ITS NOT A FASHION STATEMENT.

Its about undoing the damage mass-marketed fashion shoes have done to your feet. Go on, pinch your toes together, stand on one leg and do a pistol squat. Now do the same, but spread your toes wide. Those toes are bad ass designed for balance and stability. Why do you want to shove them in a cone 'to look good'

Yeah, the problem was I had no idea who you were responding to!

The Adidas in the post before yours wouldn't (shouldn't) be used for training anyway.

He's on about trainers like the white things in the OP rather than the other ones that have been mentioned, as they have a large cushioned sole.

The old leather Samba was a great trainer, I don't really like the suede versions but I would & do still wear the black & white original ones.

As has been said, they were great for 5/6 a side & they lasted for ages.

IMO you cant beat a pair of good old white Reebok Classics, saying that I have just bought 2 pairs of Adidas Neos, one pair white and the other bright blue. I also have a pair of navy Vans "off the wall" pumps which I find very comfortable when propping up a bar for prolonged periods.

That used to be true, but unfortunately they're more chav than anything but Nike Shox these days :(

Also good for 5-a-side
