Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

I see this is 18 rated in the UK whilst the Japanese version was censored due to some graphic scenes. It's been confirmed that the USA version is not censored but I can't find any confirmation that the UK version is not censored too, anyone shed any light on this?

I believe the censorship concerns...
graphic scenes of torture and surgery removing something from inside a person.

The last part of that spoiler is defo in the UK version in all of it's detail..., the first part I'm not sure about as I've not played all the missions. You can hear it at least though in one mission I'll say that much.

There's also something else that may have been censored in Japan, but I've not heard it in the UK version yet because I've not found it... pretty sure I don't want to find it tbh.

Don't leave us hanging!! What's this something else???

Don't read if you haven't completed the ground zero mission!

The scene at the end as you are getting into the chopper after discovering you were betrayed, a soldier gets shot in the face right in front of snake and its pretty graphic. Shows it again in slow motion later in the phantom pain trailer. Possibly not it but its all I can think of that's worthy of censorship. Maybe I haven't found it yet though, haven't done any side missions...

Played through mission Ground Zeroes last night on Xbox One, took me 2 hours and died once.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game to be honest. It's really whetted my appetite for PP. If you can look past the fact this is a glorified demo for £20.00, then you'll get much more out of it. I suspect a massive influx of GZ on eBay over this weekend, I'll probably keep my copy however as even though I completed the "main game", I've actually only completed 8%.

I still think gaming as a whole is cheap and going to the cinema on a Friday night would probably have cost me (or getting on for) £20 so I'm not too fussed about the price.

People seem more positive on this over infamous, may go with this as how you describe it above is spot on. Cinema for me and girlfriend is close to £20 for 2 hours ;)

Plus it looks stunning in the videos ive seen

Got mine today, and I must say I'm impressed with Gameseek; £19.85 and I ordered it late Thursday afternoon. I'll be using them again in future.

Won't get a chance to try the game out until I get home from work later, hopefully I can get out of there by about 6pm.

Had a quick go on this last night, graphics look amazing, another showcase of what next gen hardware can do and the textures and lighting effects are some of the best I've seen. Gameplay feels like classic Metal Gear but refined, can't wait to get stuck into it later.

Has no one got this for the good old PS3?

It's 19.99 on psn and I'm quite tempted, seen some comparison videos to the next gen and it doesnt look too far off.

Mine wont work.

Getting error ce-34878 every time I try to load it.

:(

EDIT: Fixed it.

5 minutes in. I miss Hayter already. Doesn't feel right.

So apart from the main mission what else is there? I complete all my games 100% so will I have much more to do after?

There is a lot or replayabilty if you go for 100% to be honest. I've sunk about 8 hours into it so far and am only at 20%. There are 5 side missions, all in the same area shorter than ground zeroes but fun and challenging in their own right. To do all the missions and nothing more would take about 5 hours, less if you don't care about being stealthy but what's the point of that?

All these people moaning about it being an hour long are doing it wrong. Its a fantastic game and I think it is well worth the money. Its gorgeous and the gameplay is great, and most importantly it sets up the phantom pain and gets my gaming penis all tingly at the thought of a full game of this quality.

One of the most iconic things in the mgs series is snakes voice. The first time I hear snake talk I would get hyped and ready for some sneaking action. Taking hayter out of mgs is like taking away a part of its soul.

Exactly how I felt. I didn't even know it was Snake talking at the start of the game. Just doesn't feel like an MGS game with out his awesome voice.

Kinda heart breaking to be honest.

I think it almost annoys me more that he sounds very similar to Hayter, its "not quite" Snake. Sounds similar but you can instantly tell its wrong. I dare say i would rather it had been a totally different voice altogether, if you're going to change Snake then change him, don't make him a poor clone of the original.

David Hayter will be sorely missed. For the die hard fans you could get the Jap version which has english subtitles and jap dialogue by the same guy who did all the other MGS games for Japan I believe.

The Playstation version has also got the Deja Vu mission to unlock by collecting all the XOF patches.

Some interesting Easter Eggs also...(may contain spoilers) :

This reference is actually one entire bonus mission received from collecting all of the XOF patches hidden throughout the story portion of the game, and is also exclusive to the PlayStation versions of the game.

Essentially, it’s a mission where you will control Snake around a version of Camp Omega that is fused with nostalgic elements of Shadow Moses; the location of the original Metal Gear Solid. There is no true goal in the mission aside from searching for 7 flashbacks to the game with the use of photographs provided to you by Miller.

The mini-tasks range from collecting chaff grenades by weaving between spotlights on a helipad – reenacting the very beginning of the original game – to finding grenades and tossing them into a tank, which is the method for winning the appropriate boss battle in Metal Gear Solid. In addition to that, another Easter Egg can be found by stealing a jeep and driving underneath the overpass, which kicks in a flashback of the game’s final boss battle; the tunnel chase with Solid and Liquid Snake.

Those are the more elusive and hidden flashbacks to find, but among the rest are references to Psycho Mantis, a certain surveillance camera, and more. Furthermore, this entire mission is packed with Easter Eggs, and it will crop up multiple times over the course of this article.
