If you had the chance, what would you ask your company CEO?

It's interesting to me that the team I lead have a direct line to all of our Exec Team, including the CEO. Often other BU's will come to us and they're in ... awe isn't the right word but is close ... of people who they don't see very much, like the CEO, and can't just go and speak to them whereas we can and do.

It's largely a matter of perspective I think. If you staged some of the nonsense questions posted earlier to our CEO he would be troubled that you thought that this was a good approach to take. The counter to this is that I have worked in (UK) organisations where this kind of faux-effort brown nosing was de riguer.

I am looking for inspiration. Simple as.

But if you've not actually got any questions to ask and need inspiration from others to think up some questions to ask so you can volunteer to go to some meeting and ask those questions.... aren't you just wasting as much of the CEO's time as the people doing the usual ass kissing. I mean surely the point of town hall meetings is for people to actually ask questions they want to ask, not for people to try and look good by attending with the goal of being seen to ask some questions. No one here even knows anything about the organisation you work for. Perhaps volunteer to attend the meeting when you've actually got something you want to raise.

All of those words.

"Are we a consultancy, or a products company?"

At the moment it seems we have the problems of both

I nearly asked a (less succinct!) variant of that question to a senior executive who recently joined, but I decided it wouldn't carry any weight until he'd found his feet and was able to form an opinion.

As for the CEO I'd probably ask him if he was serious when a few years ago he stated he'd like to see more people undertaking training courses and that the company would support it, as I've received mixed responses to requests for financial support in that regard since.

Do you go Stateside for town hall meetings every quarter and just bunk off them? :)

I flipping wish! The American offices are stunning; he just comes over and has a chat with us somewhere local. I remember when I first joined the company he took a couple of us out to the pub for a few drinks after the town hall. Really nice guy, just chilled out and down to Earth. :)

Ah cool. I was in California four times last year. I do love business trips. One of the more significant perks of my job. I'd never fly business class if I was paying. I took a look at the cost and thought "you must be joking!" Alas, they weren't. :( Oh well, now I try and scrimp and save air miles for personal use. "Once you go left..." :D

I see him every so often, my first question is always "how are the Magic getting on Tim" cue a 30min rant every time about Orlando :D you may be shocked to hear they are normal people and the amount of brown nosing annoys them a lot.
