Just because you don't hear about other religions in the mainstream media and muslims are the new 'threat' perceived by the AFP doesn't mean you should fall for it - hook,line and sinker.

OK coming from the UK where we have examples of every style from the last 1000 years we take this for granted, but every other country has a wide range of styles they have developed over the years, even America with only a hundred years of construction has created many different concepts.

I suspect they are embarrassed at their lack of development and made a big show of buying in designs to build Dubai (and still only ended up with an embarrassing Legoland in the desert)


Food,
What do muslims eat? Eggs, dates and fish from what I can tell, that probably explains the complete lack of cookery books. A lot of people identify with a culture through a love of its food (think France), but sorry I'm not that fussed about eggs, dates and fish,

Music:
This is about the only thing teenagers care about for at least five years, and pretty much defines American and British cultures.
What has islam ever done? Nothing from what I can tell.

Science:
41 Muslim countries with about 20% of the world's total population generate less than 5% of its science.
Ever since 1200AD, muslim countries have been reliant on the West for access to scientific progress, a situation created mostly by its own religious intolerance, being more concerned with what women wear than Quantum Physics.
In fact if they sent less time chanting and more time reading then they might get somewhere.
As with most countries, intelligent educated people do not want to live in the stone age surrounded by beardy nutjobs making bombs, so they migrate to more tolerant states.


Politics.
Every advanced country has some form of democracy, every islamic country still clings to the same corrupt variations of theocratic dictatorships


Religion.
Lots of people like religion, gives them something to reflect on. Some religions really add something to a culture, like the Amish and Buddhism, even people who don't follow it find them interesting.
But Islam sucks. No bacon, no music, no dancing, no sex, no alcohol? No wonder Vladimir the Great told them to get stuffed, you couldn't get a more repressively prescriptive ideology. Not even muslims like it, sheikhs regularly visit London to drink and fornicate away from other muslims seeing them.



Really Islam is a destroyer of culture :(
they hate other peoples (especially American) and make a pitifully meagre attempt at their own. You can't help but feel that they really hate themselves and everything enjoyable in life. Depressed people on suicide watch have a greater appreciation of life then these people.

There are cultures in the Amazon rainforest where people have bones in their noses and wear gourds on their penis that are more interesting culturally. David Attenborough has spent more documentary time on the anus of a tree frog than he found to talk about anything in the middle east.


They are a sad, poor excuse for a culture and have effectively wasted everything the world has handed to them, in the name of some backwards belief :(
This Liberal idea that they can come to the UK (or any other country) and "enrich" us all with their "wonderful culture" is such utter BS that I lack the words to express my contempt of its idiocy.

The difference between the jewish laws is that they will have been passed some time ago when the average man on the street was more concerned about dieing from work in his mid 50s with no access to the Internet, little grip on the news and the passing of such laws passed him by.

Now we are more developed we have less time for dieing and more time to ponder first world problems and more access to information about the problems.

Thus we might not now agree that the Jews get special laws but it's too late to fix that. But we can stop Islamic laws coming in as we want to make the6 country less attractive to Muslims not more attractive. ..

Also fits in well with demonising the fellow muslim population so we can help justify our illegal wars abroad. Funny how most of the politicians let it happen and often jump on the bandwagon.....

Then we wonder why more and more muslims are seeking refuge in our country....

Personally I'm all for stopping any intervention in the middle east if it meant getting rid of a lot of people from this country/stopping any more coming in.

In my experience, multiculturalism doesn't work and is just a disaster waiting to happen.

Thankfully I've been able to bugger off out of the UK to where my family is from, and I sincerely hope the British public take more of an active interest in not letting their society being insidiously diluted.

*Note: For those that want to call me racist, bigoted or any other stigmitising word, this is NOT an issue of colour or race, more the culture and religious preferences*

If bitslice doesn't want to actually go to a current Muslim country he should look souther Spain and compare it to the likes of north Africa, the middle east and indonesia to realise that in fact architecture is very different. Its the same in the same way the west build large rectangular buildings...

Muslim countries have huge amounts of art output, where the idea of squiggly lines comes from I'm really intrigued!

It's a xenophobic rant by one of OcUKs most anti Muslim posters, in a thread started by another anti Muslim poster that didn't understand a news article...

Multiculturalism has worked for 8000 years as it is the foundation of civilization. Cultures colide, merge and transform into new cultures. Why do you think the Romans had the same gods as the Greek but with different names? Can you guess what deity the all powerful sun god Ra inspired? Arabic numerals (which actually originate in india)? Gun powder?
From religion to science, from architecture to music, all the progress we've ever made has been the result of different cultures interacting and influencing one another.

In fact, the less exposure human beings have to different cultures, they less development exists. See ancient Americas, Australia, Central Africa.

You should consider expanding your horizon beyond your experience before making such ridiculous statements.

Well Gothic Architecture, specifically the pointed arches that adorn many Christian churches and buildings around the world were massively influenced by Islamic Architecture, the notion that it was a dull, uncreative or unimaginative branch is frankly absurd.
 
I guess we will be chopping peoples hands off for shoplifting soon.

Quite bizarre how other cultures and religions can come here and impose their laws, and we bow to them, yet if we were to do the same in their countries, we'd be laughed off, or even shot.

Not particularly but I know that in the 'Islamic Golden Age' huge progress was made in astronomy and I believe maths too. I am not about to backfill with wikipedia, but you are welcome too.

Okay. Multicultarism cannot work when you have a developed nation with equally developed laws of equality etc when an influx of foreigners who cannot abide by said laws and must instead create their own second tier of law system that is defined purely by an ancient and unqualified belief system that cannot progress, cannot provide equality and treads over the toes of those abiding by the said laws.

The people who cling onto those archaic beliefs can never culturally progress nor can they accept laws set which override their own cultural rules. Hence you get redicolous systems like this.

Is that Qualified? enough
