• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

is this ridiculous?

If you only have 1 GPU in your PC, then your PC is unbalanced and the Feng Shui of the case interior is all wrong. You will also find that because you only have the internals anchored by the motherboard standoffs and the PCI slot screws of one GPU, gravitational forces will, over time, cause your motherboard to warp and eventually break.

By simply adding a second graphics card, you add another two PCI slot screws which alters the fulcrum of the forces within the case and ensures that everything in your PC is balanced and so cannot now break. You will also find that the correction of your PC's Feng Shui will account for at least an additional 25% in FPS, and at least a 50% reduction in BSODs.

It's a well known fact that you can increase the effectiveness of a soldier in combat simply by pairing him up with another soldier. GPUs work along the same lines.

GPUs are also highly powered, gorgeous and desirable things. We all know from the world of dating that gorgeous and desirable tends to mean emotional and fragile, which is why a single GPU can often be found quietly crying to itself in the middle of the night.

These are all reasons why I firmly believe that graphics cards should always be used in pairs, and I salute the OPs friend for being sensible enough to forego any kind of logical or fiscal reasoning and get another 780ti to keep his existing one company.

+1:D

Haha.

Oh no. I'm doing it wrong :(

.

Quietly crying my single classy screams like a 12 month old teething baby, the. Only comfort she has is by me opening up the nvidia gpu section and adding another to the basket. Think I can only keep this up for a couple more weeks before I click confirm, kids!! :D

Removed one of my Classys from the machine and it developed a lean. :D

+1 this.

I think this is the major reason why I am adding second 780.
Well, ok. I am planning to get a 1440/1600p screen sometime later this year, but its mainly aesthetics. I am going for a custom loop and single GPU sitting on E-ATX motherboard in a huge case like mine looks just... lonely?

I thought this was a total waste
What are your thought on this?

My friend who games at 1080p has just installed his second 780ti.
Surely one card would max everything out with room to spare?

You forget the power of upgradetitus.

OTH,when Nvidia releases their new high end card, maybe you can get a cheap GTX780TI,after all a pair(let alone one) won't be any good for 1080p by the end of the year!! :p

What's wrong with futureproofing for the cheap 4K monitors that are coming, Dells 28" 4K for £540 looks really nice if you don't mind TN panel.

I'm still rocking crossfire 7850 because I picked the second one up for a third of the cost of my first one, I can still play the latest games comfortably at 60fps despite them being 2 years old.

Except the panel you mentioned above is a 30Hz one if I'm not mistaken.

I didn't know JC was a member on the OCUK forums :D

This is a true... Jeremy Clarkson analogy SLi = MORE POWER :p

You nailed it, I have to say two is most certainly better than 1 in my situation, I love SLI now. And the babies look very good paired together!

Depends what you mean by 1080p.

If you mean the standard 1920 x 1080 then 2 Ti's is mostly overkill. If you mean 2560 x 1080 like my 29" super wide, it's a lot more pixels to push, and my 2 Ti's get to stretch their legs more than you would think in quite a few games.

With all the higher res screens coming out soon, won't be overkill at all if he upgrades his monitor(s).
