Supermarket zombies

I shop at night for this very reason. Firstly, people get in my way while I'm shopping. Secondly, I get in other people's way when shopping if I'm browsing. So for my own peace of mind and out of politeness, I shop at night most of the time.

There's an Iceland near me that's very small. The aisles are wide enough for one trolley and one person standing sideways pressed up against the freezers. It's ludicrously tight in there. Yet it's functional and people tend to be polite about it.

I was in Costco yesterday. Some hopeless sperm bank (with her many children) was shopping there. One of her runts was running around, completely out of control. Said child then was playing around on a pallet, fell over, smashed his tooth and his mum had to wipe blood off the floor.

I quite like Lidl, but the type of people it attracts varies wildly!

I am with OP, its not just supermarkets either everywhere I look people are like zombies! :(

Mobile phones, dawdling around shopping aisles, takiing the **** at the petrol pump and many more.

People in general these days Pifft!

It's people with headphones that do it for me, they'll stand in the way with their trolley and can't hear anyone saying "excuse me" and trying to get past :(

i get that a lot when i got to the shops in the student places, the students are all obvious i've taken to not saying anything and just a firm hand on top of back/shoulder and moving them out of the way works lol.

What really ****es me off is when two people decide to have a conversation in the doorway of a shop and give you dirty looks when you say excuse me.

In a similar vein, 2-3 people who hold a "meeting" talking shop in the middle of a corridor at work, blocking it. Goddamn annoying. I've come across that, frequently, in both public and private sector.

Waitrose isn't in every town. Stafford is your average middle-of-the-road town with the "normal 3" (Tesco/Sainsbury's/Asda). Can't drive, so that's what I have.

I'm actually quite surprised Stafford doesn't have one to be honest it's a much nicer place than Wolves and we've got one!

I took a friend shopping the other day for she doesn't have a car, we went to asda.

I haven't been in a supermarket in about 3 years, oh good grief. I couldn't believe it, everyone moves so ****ing slow and gets in your way - then when you push past they give you a dirty look, took us about an hour to buy a trolley full.

And the food was so frigging expensive considering the quality was absolutely abysmal, I wouldn't touch any of their fruit and veg - no really. The produce was incredibly low quality yet it cost nearly twice as much as my greengrocer or even lidl is cheaper.

Then there's the kids and the fat family standing in the cheese aisle filling the trolley with ready meals and drinkable mayonnaise getting in every ****ers way. It's bloody useless man, I seriously don't know why anyone would still shop in a supermarket.

At one time I imagine it made sense for those on a tight budget but nowadays they aren't even that cheap.

If you were in that much of a rush you'd not be going to the supermarket anyway so there's no reason for complaint. Calm down instead?

If you are always in a rush then your problem is time management.

The people who park/stop their trolleys obviously in the way of others, really bug me. But that's about it. I just either say excuse me or bash their trolley out the way, depending on my mood.

Nothing worth getting stressed about :)

Maybe its more of a case of just not wanting to be spending too much time in a place when it is unnecessary, regardless of how much time you have.

I too like to be in and out. I really don't like to spend too much time in supermarkets or any shops really, but simply due to the nature of other shop users. Plus I spent my teens working in public facing jobs such as supermarkets and it reminds me of the cold soul destroying environment.

I suppose it's people without a plan shuffling round a vast warehouse of goods coming to a head with people who have a plan, a route, a strategy and a plan B for getting in and out with a months shopping without feeling homicidal in less than an hour.

Online shopping ftw!

Meh, I send the other half. If I do end up going we always go late so store is pretty empty, must try online (it's not being able to check dates on bread and fruit etc that puts me off) either way Op is doing it wrong.

I always love my trips to the supermarket, where some muppet is always walking behind people who are out for a nice casual shop, have to get what they want now, now, NOW and are constantly weaving in and out with their trolleys. When I go somewhere I go there for a nice relaxing stroll around the shop, a good browse of the bargains, I'm in no rush so I take my time.

Then there are people in supermarkets who seem to just want to supermarket sweep, who apparently have very important lives, and treat everyone else as an inconvenience. It gets even better when they have trolleys and rather than waiting for me to decide if I want raspberry or strawberry jam today they huff and puff while reaching across me before powering past, blocking the isle so no one can get past the other way. Its even better when Mr Important grumpily pushes past everyone desperate to get back to whatever mission critical aspect of their life or job needs such immediate attention. I mean is it not common sense to just accept not everyone needs to complete their weekly shop in under a minute? Some people just fancy a wander around to see what takes their fancy and might not pick up anything while they are in the shop, it's just nice to have a look around sometimes.

Now on to my favourite, the miserable impatient fellow with no compassion for the mother trying to do her weekly shop with a massive trolley and screaming child in it. Surprisingly even mothers (and fathers!) don't like it when their child is acting up while shopping, but alas, they are children and unfortunately quite unresponsive to a formal chit chat. Quite often they are just trying to get through the shop with the minimum of hassle, and people blustering about their poor widdle ears while they are trying to complete their new world record setting shopping visit are the least of their concern.
