Dark Souls II Gameplay Tips and Spoiler Thread

Received the guide today and it's great. Things like pictures of enemy attacks so you know what they're going to do and also if you can parry and black their attacks. They've also got some great maps. I'm sure it's not perfect (I'd imagine some items not shown and the item locations can be a bit vague as a go to source) but you can tell a lot of hard work went into it and to be honest, thing thing itself is beautiful!

Balls. Accidentally completed the game when I still had things to do! You can defeat the last boss and leave and do something else but I walked to the wrong spot and triggered the ending cutscene :(.

Nevermind, all is good. The ending cutscene doesn't trigger NG+ :p.

Were you summoned to help him? If I'm summoned to help someone, I don't mind if they hang back. After all, if they die, I get sent home with nothing. I'll happily put myself in harms way first, especially against the area boss (and even more so if I know how to beat him).

it was that rat covenant thing, where you get dragged into someone elses world and enemies don't attack them, only you.

oh and yea, i'm happy to help anyone out when i'm the phantom, I really dont mind if the guy brings me into his world to take on a boss while they run around

I can't believe they haven't even slightly improved the clipping issue with bows... I mean not even a little. Appalling!

Dragon aeire- potentially awesome area ruined by dragons being able to hit you through walls and rocks. It looks awesome though.

Must be very close to the end now, and suddenly noticing lots of NPC invasions.

If you're talking about Navlaan, get used to it. The PITA invades you wherever he can :p.

Firestorm just made a one of the secret bosses my bitch. About 40% of it's health gone like that :D.

Just beat Bonfire Ascetic Freja on my first try. Pyromancy is OP as ever, and with Flame Swathe it's risen to a whole new level. Seriously, 1100 damage per hit with it against Freja!

At least it was a better ending than Dark Souls 1.

I love this game franchise, but I've always felt the story to be a bit think on the ground.

Can't stop playing this (as I expected). Living up to all my expectations.

Cleared out Last Bastille, Sinners area and then the Bell Gargoyles last night.

Not sure where I'm heading next yet. Think I can un petrify someone now and have seen a couple of those so will have to find them again.

Had my first invasions in the bell tower part. Had about 4-5 in a few minutes. Got killed by the first one as I was watching someone on the internet and hadn't noticed someone invade. Seen it and grabbed controller only to roll through a hole in the floor to which they dropped down and got a stealth hit on me.
next lot I just slaughtered as they spawned right next to me...lol

i've only just got 1 attunement so only just trying out - it seems pretty awesome

What do you mean by developer messages?
The developers leave messages on the floor in certain places. You'll know it's a developer message as there is no option to rate it. Before you free Navlaan, there is a ton of developer messages warning you not to do it. I completely ignored them as I wanted to fight him :D

I went through that area last night and loved it. The first dragon did the same to me, so I equipped all my fire resistant gear and ran up close to them. Great Lightning Spears made short work of him, and he doesn't respawn either (all 3 of them), so you can go rest at the bonfire and come back to take care of all the Crystal Lizards (there's probably around 6-8 in the areas around the 3 dragon fights).

You can fight him whenever, the problem with releasing him straight away is that you lose out on a pretty big quest line.

Not gonna bother with NG+ there are just a load more enemies about.... I just killed 3 dark spirits in the very first area in order to get a soul worth 800...another 50 of them and I might even be able to level up!

I'll do NG+ as I enjoy the challenge :)

What Soul Level is everyone up to now? I seem to be so much more leveled than in previous games, I'm already up to around SL150 and I've not finished yet (though I think I'm very close). I know I've helped a lot of people so I've gotten a lot of souls that way, but I still feel much more leveled than in the past.
