Never had a bike even from the factory build with a ferrule on the end, never had on mange up at the outer entry point.
I'll conduct a full autopsy in due course and see if I can determine cause of death.

Huh. I did wonder that, but I checked zinn and that said to put a ferrule on each end. I wonder why the cables got so mangled at that end, then.
Sheldon says put a ferrule on each end, but notes that some cable entry points are too small for a ferrule, so I guess it depends on whether a 2300 housing would accept a ferrule.
I have lots of luck with gears. Adjusted mine before the weekend and then played with them a few times since. They seem to suck no matter what I do so either I'm doing something terribly wrong or...I'm doing something terribly wrong. Awesome :/
Tanked it into work at an average speed of 21.7mph today, with a massive grin on my face all the way. Man its good to be back on the bike.
Hi Monsieur Tart!
As I've mentioned before, as the chain stretches the drivetrain wears as a whole unit.
If you don't catch this chain stretch in time, the teeth of your chainrings and rear cassette wear (become slightly hook shaped).
This will still function with a stretched chain.
If you replace the chain with new at this stage, you will suffer from chainsuck as the hook shaped chainring teeth 'hold onto' the shorter chain.
Sounds to me like your chainrings need replacing, but it needs looking at ideally.
Use one of these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...nitedKingdom&gclid=CJHOwoWjvL0CFTHItAod5TUACw to prevent further issues once you have replaced the worn parts.

30.7kph average.
Bloody junctions.
I changed the rear cassette at the same time as the chain unfortunately.
Need a couple of cheap tops for the better weather - going to give one of these rumble - for the sake of £15 or something - it's going to be cheap copies but hey ho

Not the cassette, it's the front chainrings that cause chainsuck.
