Having recently (reluctantly) moved back to red team, I was reminded of one of the things I love about green team - they just work! Whereas red team is almost always a struggle for some reason.

I miss green team a bit, but their surround implementation is just rubbish.

Seem to have it running OK for most part now, but still got some issues with drivers.

780s are nice cards. I loved my 780 lightning.

To be honest mate, I've been lucky in the past with beta drivers and had no problems, however, all the well documented mantle driver issues, black screens etc, I read about it every day and frankly have decided to wait for fully fledged fully tested and approved drivers before trying out mantle or tru-audio. I was drawn to the 290 because of these features but I'm not willing to alpha or beta test them for Amd frankly and we are now getting towards summer and still no finished drivers. I grow impatient.

Using 13.12 and rock solid.

What was up with your 290?

I had issues with the 290x on release, returned it. Bought a 290 yesterday, same issues. I have an inkling as to what the problem might be though. I'll let you know if it is what I think it is.

You missing out then

because even if Driver 14.3 is Beta Mantle on BF4 is very good. Not a single issue here pal.

Shanks, at the risk of incurring the wrath of the 'off topic' police, sadly I don't play BF4 and I thought Thief was very poor. However the 780 is a brilliant card.

You don't necessarily need a lower price to have a better overall card Imho

Amd buyers feel they get a great card for less money.

Nvidia users feel they pay more for a great card.

Digihome TV buyers feel they get a great TV for less money.

Panasonic buyers feel they pay more for a great TV.

Even if they are the same and do the same things people buy what they 'think' is the better buy, Be that cheaper, better quality, more features.

Same with price/performance ideas,hard to compare a card that has say mantle/shadowplay or physx/trueaudioas different people place different priories on these effects/features of these cards

, Btw I have a Panasonic TV and a logik tv. If I had 2 gaming pc's I would have an amd 290 non x gpu in it.

Hi Ian, a lot of what you say is true. I don't consider myself red or green team but at the moment I find it difficult to justify the price of Nvidia high end cards. I would like to own a 780Ti but cant afford it. I look at my Msi 290 Gaming card and feel its every bit as well built as any Nvidia card and performance wise is very close, for £200 less it seems obvious to me. I don't begrudge any gamer wanting a 780Ti and will not criticise anyone who buys one over a 290, but I cant understand it. I'm not sure I would buy a 780Ti even if I could afford one as the difference in performance, gaming at 1080p or even 1440p is not enough, for me, to justify the price difference, £50 then maybe I'm interested.

I could have got a 780Ti but like you and most people i could not justify the £150 difference between the cheapest Ti and the inno3d 780 i got for £379. With the sale of my 670 for £156 and assassins creed black flag and splinter cell and 3dmark thrown in, i thought it a very good buy for me personally.

Just like you, many people are happy with what they have bought at whatever price they paid.
