*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

  • I think the rep system is a nice idea in theory but in reality will mean very little, for example I don't think it made any difference whatsoever on the 360. Friends would just give each other a high rating/positive feedback and that would gimp it if everybody did that.

  • Plus players would give you bad rep if you were just better than them at a game. I've got bad rep for trash talking on XBL even though I have communication set to friends only

Thanks to me being decent at COD I would get a lot of bad feedback for 'Unsporting' behaviour. Do they expect me to stand still and let them kill me?! :p

Do Ps4's need to be activated as primary consoles like back in the Ps3 days?

Can't remember..

No idea I just remember activating mine as a Primary when changing the drive and all worked ok with save games. I did not try it without activating it so it might mean nothing but worth a go.

Cool, so no issues with the PS4? I was concerned because I know VM throttle P2P connections in the evenings if you go over a certain amount.

so much BS is spouted about VM throttling, even after throttling VM is still up to 10 times faster than the average ADSL connection. it's also impossible to be throttled if you set up your system properly so you only download huge chunks overnight.

from just online gaming use (excluding downloading of games) it is impossible to be throttled. therefore you will get the full power available of your connection.

only people who torrent, etc get throttled and that's only if they haven't scheduled their torrents to outwith the hours throttling guidelines apply.

i think it's like 12-3 then 4-8 or something like that, download outwith those hours and you will never be throttled, but check VM's website to make sure it's been so long since I set my system up.

never had no issues with P2P connections but I only use the superhub in modem only mode and have 2 very good asus routers one as the primary access point and the other as a extender.

people who use the superhub as a router tend to fair much worse as the superhubs aren't up to scratch.

you can only activate one console as your primary console where it then gives all other accounts on that system access to your PSN plus to play online under their own gamertag as well as access to all your games online or offline.

for every other system where you add your account only your account can use psn plus and the games to play online/offline

Nope.

Only issue i have with virgin is upload bandwidth, Not much can be done about that though.

upload is 5-12.5 MB which is more than enough for console gaming, in fact with 5MB upload you probably have higher than 90% of other console gamers out there

Developer claims PS4 will always be stronger than the Xbox One

“the PS4 has MORE COMPUTE units, and faster memory and a whole bunch of things, that would make that [Xbox One / PS4 parity] physically impossible to happen.” At this point, four months after launch, an increasing amount of data suggests that Gilray is right — and that may be why the PS4 continues to outsell the Xbox One at a rapid clip.

The PS4′s undeniable hardware advantage

Virgin were announced as a launch partner for the PS4 so it would be ridiculous if there were issues. There was supposed to be a further announcement about exclusive features in relation to this but there's been nothing from Virgin or Sony since. :(

I'm on 100mb Virgin with the Superhub 2 and dint have any issues.

I would be using my superhub in router mode though, unless I can use my BT HH3 router with it? (But that might not be much better than using the superhub in router mode?)
