L.A NOIRE any good?

It's alright. The facial animations stand out, although they contrast poorly against the terrible body animations and the characters do look like they're chewing wasps when they talk sometimes. It was more impressive at the time; these days they've been outdown by various other games that have managed to do it far more convincingly.

The interrogation system is awful and you just seem to get punished for going down a perfectly acceptable line of questioning, before your supervising officer demands you choose a suspect to charge despite not having enough evidence to actually support that.

Didn't think much of the overall storyline either, it just seemed like it was there for the sake of it rather than actually feeding into the gameplay and cases properly.

Not a bad game but just didn't live up to its potential, the fact it went through 'development hell' is quite evident when you play it.

thought it was a bit pants to be honest, some very good ideas but..

1. It relies on you recognising emotions in the characters which sometimes simply aren't there and the dialog options you're given sometimes make no sense. I remember talking to one guy, my thinking was to take it nice and easy on him, I select a response which looked like that, but my character started screaming at the poor sod.

2. Game on rails, don't expect anything other than to be taken for the ride. I spent about 12 hours in it before I just go fed up.

Driving, shooting, puzzles, chases, cover mechanics, free roam, random events etc.

It isn't the best at any one of those, but does a good job at each to make for a rather good game. :)

edit: Seems i'm out numbered heavily. Well, I enjoyed it anyway. :p

It's a unique experience that's well worth a look. The puzzle elements are fun, the interrogations can be pretty interesting and navigating the beautifully rendered city is great, throw in a decent shooting mechanic and it's a pretty well rounded game with some great acting and a number of recognizable faces.

I loved the game despite it's flaws.

I really enjoyed it, loved how everything is so clean and modern for the time, with most stuff only being recently built in that time period. The gameplay does get a bit repetitive after a while, and the driving physics are absolutely pathetic but the dialogue, the lip synching and the characters are what makes the game, the combat isn't bad either, there just isn't a huge amount of it.

i enjoyed it , but on windows 8 when i was giving it a 100% run i kept running into a crash at a certain level that put me off it

I think it's great, storyline is great too by a case-by-case basis IMO. No idea what's happening overall other than man leaves army becomes supercop thing though.

Wrong with this game, 30fps feels fine, same as Dark Souls. Both games play as was intended at those frames. Other games locked at 30fps I agree feel wrong but not this game.

This, of all the 30fps locked games I've played Dark Souls & LA feel more like 40-50 but that may just be playing it with a pad.

At the end of the day, if you want a good story driven "decisions affect outcome" type of game, you would be far better of spending your dosh on walking dead. Now that is a good game. I don't even like point and click games, but it is just fantastic.

If you want a mafia style game, play mafia 2 for its wonderful environment. Feels a bit like gta, but not as good, but the setting is well done and just driving round the 1950s in the snow was really pleasant.

I liked the game was slow paced but stuck with it to the end.

Another game that's similar is one called Deadly Premonition it's a quirky FBI investigation GTA style.

I really enjoyed it, plus getting you partner to do all the driving made the story go along a lot quicker as you could skip driving to and from crime scenes.
