Hi, my name is Ross and I have a problem buying games :)

Does anyone else find themselves buying new games on the spur of the moment (normally due to sales) and then either never playing them or only loading them up once before moving onto something else? I don't mean finding out that they are bad games, more just getting distracted by something else newer and shinier.
I noticed yesterday that I have an icon for The Unstoppable Gorg on my desktop and I don't even remember buying that one and I certainly haven't ever played it so I looked through my Steam library and found the following that have all sat idle, all with less than 1 hour played: -

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Anno 2070
The Last Remnant
Fallout 3: New Vegas
The Unstoppable Gorg
Orcs Must Die 2
Gratuitous Space Battles
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Crusader Kings 2
Puzzle Quest Galactrix
Penny Arcade 2, 3 and 4!
The Bards Tale
Lego Lord of The Rings
Torchlight 2
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
The Witcher 2
.
.
.

The list goes on but I was getting a bit sad about how much money I've wasted so I stopped looking at that point :)

Is it just me that has this problem or are there other, fellow sufferers out there?

I know this feeling all too well.

CS:GO lasted 35 minutes before I rage quit due to people sniping me from across the map.

FarCry 3 lasted about an hour before I got annoyed at not being able to progress past one section so haven't played since.

Arma 3 I refuse to play because it has too many buttons.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist lasted about 15 minutes because I couldn't get past one section.

I'm a serial rage-quitter.

Ah, I don't think I've deliberately stopped playing any of mine due to frustration, I think I'm just far to easily distracted by the thought of something new.

That's pretty much the only reason I stop playing. Battlefield is the only game that despite it driving me insane, I keep going back to.

About 3/4 of my steam inventory and half a dozen ps2/3 games, scarily thats probably around 100 games ive never even installed, I have a steam sale problem

Oh, completely off topic but I just followed your sig link to your mining project wndsr, completely mental and the best use of a cellar I think I've ever seen :)

FF11 - got it and it never worked so never played it, kept fighting between steam and square-enix support each telling me it was the others fault.

last remenant - eneded up getting bored of this one probably because there were better games out at the time and my xbox360 hated playing the larger battles

floras fruit farm - got as part of a pack and never played it.

I put at least ~3 hours in the games I buy and I rarely hate them because I usually know in advance what I'm getting (reviews, gameplay videos).
I don't preorder and I don't care what sales have to offer unless the games are on my wishlist, which I update/modify regularly.
I don't buy on a moment's impulse, I don't buy bundles.

Some from my steam games:

I've only gotten back in to PC gaming in the last year (after a number of years out), but have already started to get a backlog.

I've only really been buying bundles (and only where there are games I want to play), and am trying to complete games rather than leave them part way through. Unfortunately, I only have around 1 to 4 hours of gaming time per week, so it takes me over a month to finish anything!

Back in my teenage years, I would only buy around 6-10 games per year, and would have a heck of a lot more time to put in to them.

Ha thanks dude. Extremely hot down there now!

I followed it after seeing nails mention it. I just lost about 20 minutes. That thread was mesmerizing. Bravo.

On topic... my list would be pretty damn long, probably 40+ games in my steam. The majority of them would have been a few quid or less though.

Some impressive lists there, glad I'm not the only one. I think most of my problems come from adding all sorts of games to my Steam wishlist even if they're ones I'm only slightly interested in. Then come sale time I see them all with big discounts and when they break my £5 barrier it becomes a 'well it's not even a fiver so what the hell' transaction.
