while the ribble is a bit MEH look wise it has full 105 groupo.. ROSE is a really good looking bike but FSA crankset plus £70ish quid extra over ribble doesn't make much sense? it is lighter tho..

.

FSA cranks are fine. and Shimano are cheap to replace/upgrade if you want later on. For £35 more you are getting a much better frame and arguably slightly better kit all round. Plus I reckon that orange bar tape is very Grudas.

If you report a ride / segment to Strava, is it anonymous when the person is asked to check/correct their data?

I smell a rat here. Average speed of 54.6km/h and a max of 67.3km/h - can't say I've seen Mr Cavendish on my patch...

There would be no difference between the 105 crankset and FSA Omega. We know you don't put down enough power for stiffness to be an issue.:p

Grudas, on second thoughts if you have most of the tools already why don't you self build and get yourself something nicer/carbon?

Carbon frameset: £240
Forks: £60
Groupset: £300

Cheap finishing kit: £100?
Budget left for wheels: £100?

[/SPOILER]

I think the debate was had earlier in the thread but if it was me I would get this instead

Its lighter, arguably has better wheels and to my eye is better looking.

I *think* that the mavic wheels Calpol is talking about would be a better choice. I cant say for sure though because i'v never owned any but i have had several sets of fulcrum 7s which have all been great (all still going strong - not buying new ones to replace the old ones).
You can choose the mavics from ribble builder for like£15 extra though.

That looks fine to me, especially considering it's pretty flat and he wasnt riding alone.

edit: wait, where did you get 54km/h avg from? I have mine set in mph and it says 18.2?

edit2: oh, you mean just for that segment? again, looks fine to me. 33mph avg for 40 seconds is fine with a little bit of a sprint (or maybe a tailwind?)
Also, if cav sprints at 67km/h, he'd never win anything! :p

Anyone replaced their bar tape for the first time and not made a c*nt of it?

I've bought 2 sets of tape, but not sure whether to go ahead in case I screw up on both attempts.

That looks totally fine, don't report it, infuriating when people report things for no reason.

I've done one bar in my time, when I replaced a cable, and managed OK. It's do-able.

I regularly do mine (white tape) and I still make a complete pigs ear of it now and again.

This.
The first attempt will be fine, because you take your time and think about what you're doing.

Then you get cocky the next time and it all goes wrong :p

My awful bar tape wrapping skills were getting mocked by the lbs mechanic. He told me it wouldn't stay on properly and tried to sell me £30 lizardskin stuff. That was almost a year and a few thousand miles ago and my horrible attempt is still going strong :D

Or you'll use a slightly different tape and discover that the only reason it was so easy last time was because that tape was so stretchy. Or tying to get that perfect tight finish you'll pull so hard you snap the tape 1" short on the second side. Grrrrr.

Pro tip: don't use the sticky tape in the box to finish the ends; use electrical tape. It stretches more, is stickier and comes in a really long role for when you mess up.

Electrical tape is essential for finishing the end of the bar tape in the middle. The bits you get in the pack of bar tape are hilariously short.
