I was going to say, a 40 mile ride at 14mph with only 1000ft climbing shouldn't be leaving you totally ruined. You've not got asthma of a heart problem or something, have you? Is your position on the bike ok?
 
Any recommendations for some oil for oiling mechs once I've cleaned them? I've got some chain lube, some 3 in 1 somewhere, some wd40, some gt85... Will any of them do or do I need something else? Finish line green or something like that?

Finish line stuff is really good, I've got some muc-off bike spray which does a similar job too.
 
Had a wonderful encounter with a motorist earlier.

Pulled up at some lights and saw some bloke had his mirrors folded in, so folded it out, and said you might need the other one, he replied why's that, I replied so you can see me, to which he came back with.

I don't need to see you. He then jumped a red light and pulled in at a bus stop about 30 yards up the road, light had gone green by then so I just carried on, he didn't come back past me so not sure what happened to him.

Agree with this, looks exactly like mine, been thoroughly pleased with it in the year and a bit I've owned it! Although I'm getting it come up as £1060.

Yeah it's 1.2k.. But I know people at wiggle.. So things like bikes/groupos can be had at "stock/no profit" price :)

They do have the riddle 2013 in stock too.. That's at ~900, but I'd need to ask my mate how much the discount would be on that.. Guess I could get it for £800 ish.
 
Finally spoke to a colleague earlier who has been off for several weeks after a cycling accident. Hit from behind by a car on his commute home despite having lights/high-vis clothing on :(

He's in quite a bad way but it's not put him off riding - he's determined to do more now when he's back on the bike (might be 6 months+). Sounds like the driver will be prosecuted but I doubt it will be that severe :rolleyes:

Problem with that is that you've come over like a typical cocky cyclist. Seriously why do that? I see more dangerous things going about on my bike than someone's wing mirrors folded in.

This driver then goes away with his attitute cemented that all cyclists are ****s which doesnt help everyone else. ;)

Yeah I removed the whole thing. There is no facility to adjust toe-in.

I took it to a bike shop today and they basically said they don't even bother stocking spare washers, because blocks with adjustments are cheap. They said that the blocks look like they should have been adjustable but that the washers were lost. So I'm going to order some:

does anyone else find their front wheel deflates faster than the rear?
my rear wheel is usually pretty solid even months later but the front always seems to need an extra pump before I ride.

or is it likely I have a silly slow puncture?
 
Doesn't sound like a slow puncture if it's still mostly inflated months later.

Maybe the rear tyre just feels a bit firmer or something?
 
This second I am aching after cycling to work and back today in my 1st commute of the year - 22miles+ roundtrip @ 17.8mph average on way to work and 19.3mph average on way back - both times with a heavy rucksack on. Managed 25mph+ up a hill! That absolutely destroyed me!

Well I didn't ride for months
/fair weather rider :o

The rear felt about 90-95% inflated.
The front felt around 80%

I'd have thought when riding most the weight is shifted to the rear? so the front should leak pressure far slower?

I'd rather come across like that and stop someone getting flattened or him driving into another car, and I'd do the same if I was in the car, well I wouldn't get out and do it but I'd signal to them. It wouldn't have changed the guys opinion, he came across like he hated all other road users.
