SkodaMart popped over tonight to sort out my gearing issues and a few other niggles. Also showed me around some bits of the bike I wasn't familiar with. Really useful session and definitely worth the moolah :)

True test is tomorrow when I get to ride the bike properly but it felt massively better during the test ride earlier.

Thanks for the fresh coffee ;)

Shame we didn't have the time to replace all the cables, inners and outers.
please let me know how you get on tomorrow.

:)

I was actually really annoyed with the coffee - I messed it up both times :p

I'll be sure to get in the right cable outers/etc next time.... Not sure how I messed that up :p

Should be doing a fair few miles tomorrow along familiar routes so I'll be able to give it a good thrashing.

Whats likely to be the best time of year for me to buy a bike considering I'm a big bloke and will need one of the larger frames.

September -October ? or because of big bikes not selling so well should I be able to get the best bang for buck earlier in the year?

I'm only spending about 1k but I'm in no rush

Anyone else get a numb perineum / penis on a ride? Not sure if it's my saddle or my shorts causing the issue.

Could be a lot of things. It's probably a combination of your riding position and saddle being unsuited to your flexibility though. If you have tight hips, when you lean forward your pelvis rotates forward too putting pressure on soft tissue rather than your sitbones. A combination of a cutout saddle, slightly reducing your saddle to bar drop and stretching of your hamstrings, glutes, quads and hip flexors should help.

Anyone used these brake blocks? I'm guessing they're the standard shimano ones that come with any new shimano brakes, in which case the answer is probably that we've all used them at one time or another. I've used kool stops before now, but this is a very good price for 4 blocks.

They're not bad but I'd personally pay a bit extra and get the Kool Stops.

I used to! Ended up changing my stock Giant (140mm) saddle for a Specialized Riva Road (155mm) after measuring my sit bones at the Covent Garden store. It's made a massive difference ever since - no numbness whatsoever! :)

So it was mostly downhill with a tailwind? ;)

No such thing as a tail wind, it's a myth, and this is London so no hills either.

New gearing (49x17) this week so 90-100rpm puts me between 32.8kph and 36.4kph cruising. Coupled with light traffic due to school holidays and it's win-win.

BAU next week.

I can't do cack to my avarage.. I get 18-19 mph avg until I hit the traffic around central and it quickly drops to 16-17 at best

Am I being a bit thick here??

Bought some Castelli Velocissimo Due BibShort on monday from Wiggle - £75. Got the XL and they fit fine apart from being alittle tight on the shoulder straps. Now if I decide to return them for an exchange for the XXL size I should be fine to get an exchange despite them now being £89.99. i.e I shouldn't have to pay more to exchange them - should i??

I think that would be unfair not to, they should definitely let you do that IMO.

There was a real idiot cycling down Victoria Street on his Langster this morning sporting a beard and a rolled up jeans leg with a reflective Rapha logo. Why!??

So it's your average cruising speed, and you're excluding the time when you're slowing and accelerating?
