What phone are you getting out of the new flagships?

Everyone's saying that it's very comparable to the Note 3.

I reckon so too Mate. It's being returned to Amazon tomorrow, got a N5 as a stop gap ordered and that should be delivered tomorrow.

Going to wait and see what the One+1 phone brings to the table on the 25th April then make a decision and see whether i'll go back to the M8.

What do you make of it so far? I really like the phone, the speakers, the music playback via headphones are excellent. The phone is very fast and fluid too, I like what they've done with Sense 6 as well.

All in all an excellent phone, plus the camera isn't shabby at all.

@kona Yes I think you should go for it Dude, DSR does work wonders especially if it's bought from your favourite store!!

Well my mum thiefed it off me and left me her iPhone 5 for the day, so I'll tell you a bit more once I thief it back off her tonight :(

The HTC M8 reminds me of the first smartphone I had, the htc desire HD, and I loved that phone. To be honest it's really nice overall, it's taking a bit of change away from TW as I've been using that for years (I'm still undecided on whether to keep the M8 or Note 3 but I'll probably know more after a few days).

As long as the battery holds well the M8 has everything I could ask for, the SD card is a real bonus.

Sense 6 is really nice indeed, probably the best looking skin over stock android that I've seen to be honest.

Higher quality apps, better iTunes back end, App Store works better abroad, FaceTime/iMessage integration is nice, etc.

I can go into more detail at a later date if you're interested, home screens aren't really a concern as you tend to go into apps more often than not.

I just want a bigger screen but not at the expense of (to me) inferior software.

I felt the same way initially but I'm happier with my nexus now. I have wireless chargers at home and work so I never use cables. WiFi file transfer takes care of the transfers. Most people I speak to use hangouts too. Plus there are apps which will never work on iOS (inssider/opensignal etc). And then there is ingress! :)

LOL your Mum has good taste! Bet you won't get it back for a little while.

I have to agree with everything you said. The M8 is simply awesome and Sense 6 is the best looking skin that's for sure.

I keep changing my mind and have messed Amazon around a little bit they were due to send out a replacement for my faulty M8 which I cancelled. Having used the M8 a little more I can't bear to part with it so I'll ask if they can send me out a replacement again and send back the N5 that I have on order.

I like what HTC have done with this phone. I only hope that I have a better experience with the battery on the replacement.

Am looking forward to your thoughts on the phone once you've got it back from your Mum Mate!

have to say i really dont like the look of that s5, probably the most real picture i seen so far

it just looks 'dated' to my personal taste.
the M8 seems to have the right balance of looks/ergo
z2 looks nicest but least ergonomic

What made you go for the S5 if you don't mind me asking?

Of course :).

I didn't make the decision without researching my other options first. The M8 while having a better build was just a tad tall and I didn't likie the big black bar near the HTC logo. I also wanted a removable battery, the S5 had that as well as a slightly larger battery.

Again the Z2 was too tall, having held all three I felt that the S5 was the right proportions for me.

I also actually like the S5 looks in person, when I first went to see it I thought I was going to hate the back and the chrome ridged bezel. In reality the back in particular was much subtler than I anticipated. Compared to the shiny rear of the S3/S4 it actually feels better to the touch too, I feel like I had more grip on it.

The phone feels very slim in hand, the cover for the charging point is nowhere near as prominent as photo's suggested, though refitting the flap after charging I imagine will become tiresome.

Re the waterproofing, I don't plan on dropping it in the bath or taking it swimming but should I drop it while reading in the bath or, should it rain while i'm making a call its nice to have the reassurance that it will be ok.

As things stand i'm happy I made the right decision for me, but time will tell and I hope the build quality has improved from the S4. Hopefully the "chrome" wont peel off easily.

Got to agree with you there, thats the first time i have seen a picture of the front as in general people are posting images of the back which were fairly ugly. But yeah looks dated to me too.

Actually fancying trying a nokia out now for a change from android, only the z2 interests me out of the new ones, but not enough to bother upgrading to it i dont think.

Well, sadly my stay on Android was short lived, iOS just does a much better job for me (I'm aware other people won't agree :p). So I'm on a 5S until the iPhone 6 which better have a bigger screen!

I will say though I think the S5 is a bit of a sleeper, it's a lot nicer in the flesh, perhaps not nicer than the M8 though. I wonder which one will end up more popular on here, obviously the public will be sold the S5 by phone stores etc so no contest there. :(
Know the feeling regarding iOS. Starting to feel the same again after owning an S3 and my current Oppo Find 5. I've spent tons of time with custom roms on both phones through the years but I just want to hanker back to simplicity and for once a decent camera - always hated the android camera experience. It just has never been 'right'.

My only iOS quirk is the photo handling, can't make folders or move and manage images between them as everything gets shoved into the camera roll. I am torn now between the Oppo Find 7 and whatever the next iPhone will be :/

I decided to just pre-order for the Z2. In the end, I wanted something a bit different to the galaxy. All I have to do now is wait, and hope the delay isn't too bad. :p
