Finally got my new rear derailleur after no biking all week! Although it did allow me to start running a bit, which I'm going to do more of as I actually enjoyed it.

Fitted it myself and indexed the gears myself, all this time I've been paying people to do work like this, but a couple of hours of work and it seems to be running fine (touch wood) and I know how it works so I can actually fix things myself.

Anyway, got a couple of 30ish rides planned for this coming week and then next Saturday I'm then doing the Devils Challenge route (the one that my derailleur broke 10 miles into last week) next Sunday, the day after walking Cader Idris, which should be interesting!

No particular reason, just personal preference. They can be bought with a Shimano freehub but my inner bike tart wouldn't allow Campag wheels on a Shimano equipped bike!:p

Fulcrum are owned by Campagnolo and the R3 are just Zondas with a different sticker and spoke pattern.

thanks for that. Zonda's are about £30 cheaper as well. But will have another look

every time i come into the sports arena to check the MMA thread i see this thread and it fills me with guilt that i havnt been out on my bike in 6 months..

No, we can ban you from the sports arena though? Fatty! ;)

Looks like being a stunning day in many parts of the country, should be a lot of cyclists out!

Yep it was lovely. set off early and knocked out another 63 miles or 100km in new money. Planned to go into the wind on the way out and cruise back. It never quite works out as you planned though. Still I am pleased with the way my form is coming on.

Anyone watching the Paris Roubaix? Those cobble roads look brutal! So many mechanical break downs in those sections too, but as I've said before I still get aggrieved with riders that "throw their bikes down in disgust"....

I wanted to, but I cant find it online (you tube one is crap and the others require some sort of download ) so no :(

There's a video on YouTube from back in the day of George Hincapie's handlebars breaking off his fork on Paris-Roubaix

Lovely day out there, just a quick 30km today - i discovered that a night of haribo, chocolate and red wine is not good for morning cycling...

Quick question, my back wheel is buckled, so much that i have to release the brake caliper to stop it rubbing - is there a point where a wheel is past being able to be trued?

Probably only if there's a fracture to the rim. If it's only rubbing against the brake caliper then it sounds like it just needs your bog-standrard truing.

So I did my High Intensity Ride today

I managed to do 3 laps around the village, I chose to do a minimum Heart rate @ Zone 3 (141+)
at the end of the 2nd lap I really wanted to stop, but I pushed my self on to the point I couldn't do anymore,

so the result? well here you go :

happy with that :)

Tuesday and Wednesday going to it again

That's better. Well done and keep it up.

After lurking in this thread thought I'd post. Just started commuting on my bike to work ~8km each way about 2 weeks ago. Bought my bike from my LBS and as I'm about 145kilos they recommended hybrid so I'm now the owner of a Specialized Crosstrail and its my first bike for about 25years!. What I'm really looking for is any recommendations for bike clothes in large sizes, doesn't seem to be too much about!

Cheers
