you're just getting old! it depends what you like doing.. I like going fast but I also like enjoying the surroundings! all those pimped out bmws, hot chicks in oxford street and so on.. eh

I like going fast too.

Don't forget there is another side to cycling that is just as challenging - I amazed myself at the technical stuff I rode on my rigid MTB, stuff I've gotten off the bike for before.

I didn't come back half dead through physical exertion though!

Nothing wrong with a bit of posing and showing off, especially when you are young and full of ****!

In other news my commute this morning gave me 100% on the 'Spring Classics' challenge with 18 days still to go.

I know its another pointless mileage challenge but I've done it :p

I'm not very competitive at all.
I'll happily ignore people who overtake me even if i know i could catch them by putting in a little more effort.

I compete against my Garmin VP. If there is another cyclist around who helps me visualise that then so much the better, but it's not personal to them.

It varies slightly depending on which segment, but my clockwise PB is between 19-20mins. Come at me grudas.;)

it's 10 miles to get there! I'd need to do some laps just to get the feel for the road ;) I'd leave you on the straights/flats and die on the climbs. ;)

2 pairs of Scott Road Comp shoes received from Start Cycles. Another 2 ordered with my 12% discount.

Add them to my still-boxed Northwaves, and i don't need to buy shoes again until at least 2016!

The only thing you need to look out for is the BCD (sometimes called PCD) which is the Bolt Circle Diameter. As long as the BCD is the same then you can fit any chainring you want (although if you decide to change the number if teeth you need to look out for the maximum capacity of your rear mech: the difference between small/small and big/big it can cope with).

Cool - cheers for that. I'm sticking with a compact 50t so should be nice and straight forward. This looks like mine:

So BCD is 110mm. I'll have a hunt around - needs to be black or itll just look weird! :)

That article resonates with me so much. The state of repair of the roads on my commute and the traffic island that is just over the brow of a hill on the way in to work are poignant reminders of the dangers facing cyclists that many motorists just don't appreciate. I can't count the number of times I've been beeped by a driver when I adopt the centre of the road position just before a hidden traffic island that I pass each morning.
