Google-Motorola "X Phone" in the 2013 pipeline?

Are you interested in the 1+1 Nexus?

Also just try the Moto X from Amazon - literally nothing to lose.

Didn't even know what it was until you brought it up :p :o

Sounds very promising! But 5.5" is pretty big and knowing oppo design/phones, bezel will probably be "quite" big.....

And what a crap name for a phone too :p

I haven't been deciding on a new phone for over a year!

Only phones that I was thinking of moving to where the htc one, moto x and nexus 5 in the last year, didn't bother with the one though after HTC's announcement about the one s and updates, not even a full year of support......

Really liked the GS 4 but touchwiz is gash, phone was laggy/slow and camera was nice, however, only good for shots where people/things don't move.

As for iphone, never! Hate the huge bezel, don't like iOS, no choice and lastly don't want to support apple :p

Well you were certainly discussing new phones with me last year, christ I've already killed my second Moto X!

Touchwiz can be gotten rid of so so sooooooo easily and then you have a GPE version which is actually fantastic and is my daily driver. "CBA" with rooting etc is just an excuse, the results are absolutely worth it.

I knew you'd say no to the iPhone. I'm still right though regardless.

And don't like bezels? Its about 2mm max.. they're definitely bigger on a One S.

But to be honest you've just done it again.. said "yes but this, and then that, but then this, but that, but then again this"

You do realise there's no answer to your question?

Ah yeah I remember that matt, although I am definetly getting a new phone since my contract is over this weekend and I fancy something new to play with, back then, I was still very happy with my S and didn't feel like the htc one and gs 4 "offered" enough of an upgrade that was worth £400+

Unfortunately I don't have the time these days to be messing with custom roms and dealing with problems, especially when I am out and about quite a lot so "if" something were to go wrong i.e. stuck in boot loop, restarting or whatever, I would be without a phone. And people can say custom ROM's work for them without problems, but those are in a small minority, just have to read through any thread and guarnteed there will be at least 4 different people posting about either, performance, battery issues or certain things not working i.e. bluetooth on each page of the thread.

If only it was easy to get a hold of a GPE phone and not get ripped of....

And yup, I don't disagree with your points about iOS and iphone, it just isn't for me, I rather have a windows phone! :p

2mm bezel on the iphone, say what?!

Perhaps the bezel is bigger on the S, but it just looks utterly stupid and "appears" bigger on the iphones imo.

Sure since you are in the phone business, you can send me a few phones to try for free ;) :p

You need to get with the programme Nexus, you've been away for too long :p

The OneplusOne is going to be a stonker of a phone and cheap as well £290 for the base 16Gb version.

Indeed stoosh, haven't really followed the phone tech. news stuff since getting my nexus 7 2013 :( :p

It does look to be very good, just wish phone manufacturers would stop with all these big devices, 5" is the max I can go.

BTW have you owned/used a moto x? If yes, what did you think of it?

At least you have 4.4.2 on one of your devices so you're technically up to speed :p

It seems that 5"+ devices are the trend these days and the line between phone / phablets seem to be blurring.

I was highly interested in the Moto X and almost got one, however the 16GB storage put me off, plus there was no 32GB option, had there been one available I would've definitely bought one.

You've lived with 10GB on your HOS for so long so the 12GB odd on the Moto X would be fine for you.

My advice Mate is just pull the trigger and get one via Amazon, the price has dropped quite considerably, the SAMOLED screen is very nice and it's a worthy upgrade to your HOS.

If you don't like it Amazon have an excellent refund policy, just send it back and get a refund and you haven't lost anything.

I've gone back to the N5 as my daily driver and trust me the screen is diabolical, it will annoy you no end.

hehe true! :D Absolutely love stock android on my N7, only area I want to see a huge improvement is the camera app, which should be coming soonish.....

If I didn't have the nexus 7, I would probably be more tempted by the bigger devices....

Ah yeah remember you posting that about storage now. Yup 32GB would be nice since apps and games are getting bigger these days, thankfully I am not much of a tablet/phone gamer so storage isn't too much of an issue for me, mainly just store lots of photos and video recordings and I am not much of a music person, only got about 2-3GB worth of music :p

Right, think I am going to go with the moto x for def. now! :p

DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT! :D

Honestly you won't be disappointed, as you've pointed out I'm not exactly short of a phone but I am actually missing my X very much and thats with an S4 and iPhone 5 on hand with a Z2 and S5 coming.

The X really hammers that sweet spot of screen size and quality, build quality and materials, fuss free software and perfectly serviceable smartphone camera.

On pretty much every count you can find a handset that'll do it better but always has bigger compromises somewhere else.

In fact thats it, I think thats the pivotal point, Moto X present the least compromise out of all of the contenders.

DO IT.

And if you send it back with some nonsense excuse over a slightly grainy photo I'll hurt you.

You know what? I went to the extra hassle, expense, and worry to import a 32GB model, but in the final analysis I don't think it was worth it: I'm on gifffgaff's 1GB plan and NEVER use all my allowance, so between Dropbox, Play Music, Feedly, and all the other online services I use, I think I could have afforded to just stream and download everything I needed and not even filling up the 16Gb model's paltry storage. I have yet to copy a single track of music onto the phone. So unless you're stuck on some crappy 250MB plan (in which case you might as well be using a Nokia 3310 frankly), I wouldn't let the lack of an SD card slot dissuage you.

If you really really need extra storage (you shoot lots of 1080p video, you have lots of games installed, whatever), the Z1 Compact is similar size to the Moto X, has an sd slot, and its price has fallen to only slightly more than the Moto X.

Its great you've realised that and I have to say I wonder how many other people who give it the whole "16GB THIS IS AN OUTRAGE" or "OMG THE BATTERY IS NON REMOVABLE!" thing ever use the "features" they're demanding.

Z1 Compact is no match for this masterpiece :p

As you mentioned Sony phones, I tried out the Z1 and Z1 Compact, and thought they were both quite bad. The Z1 design (so the Z2 is more or less the same) isn't nearly as nice as you expect it to be. I thought the S5 was better. :o

This is all I can say about Sony phones.......... MEH! :p

Really don't like their software skin and the screens are thoroughly disappointing, z2 looks better though, and their support is still pretty damn crap! Plus whilst they might look nice, they are horrible to hold/use imo.

And yup, same here manveruppd, I am going to be getting a tariff this time round with a good amount of internet allowance to make use of dropbox, google music etc. if needs be!

Just need to price up some SIM deals now :p

stop stalling, you're going to need to put a sim in whatever you get so that doesn't matter. You can do a lot worse than get a nano sim (you'd need one for the X anyway) and a cheapo set of adapters from ebay just in case you ever come across another micro sim phone.

It's a really powerful psychological impulse though. The thought of committing to a device that would only have marginally more storage than my last phone elicits a really strong negative response. I realise now that I got my hands on the 32GB model that I don't NEED more storage than I needed when I got that last phone because now we have more cloud-based services, but even with the benefit of hindsight I'd struggle to convince myself to settle for 16, it just feels like a sidegrade rather than an upgrade! :p

Consumers are not rational beings, sadly, which explains why companies somehow manage to keep selling phones with ever bigger screens that people can't hold and ever higher-clocked CPUs that are thermally limited from ever running at their max frequency... :)

All true, I just liked the fact you admitted it :)

I'm exactly the same for what it's worth, I'll be buying a 128gb micro SD when they become sensibly priced.

Then I'll never listen to 70% of the music on it, as you can perhaps see from my sig, I've got my favourites :)
