Google-Motorola "X Phone" in the 2013 pipeline?

stop stalling, you're going to need to put a sim in whatever you get so that doesn't matter. You can do a lot worse than get a nano sim (you'd need one for the X anyway) and a cheapo set of adapters from ebay just in case you ever come across another micro sim phone.

Damn, forgot the moto x is nano sim!

I need to look around and see what is the best sim only monthly deal and check coverage etc. for them as well as read up on tethering stuff (IIRC all networks are now limiting or blocking tether :() + still need to ring up and cancel my current one as well as get my PAC code.

On a side note, google have just uploaded there new camera app to the play store!

hehe true! :D Absolutely love stock android on my N7, only area I want to see a huge improvement is the camera app, which should be coming soonish.....

If I didn't have the nexus 7, I would probably be more tempted by the bigger devices....

Ah yeah remember you posting that about storage now. Yup 32GB would be nice since apps and games are getting bigger these days, thankfully I am not much of a tablet/phone gamer so storage isn't too much of an issue for me, mainly just store lots of photos and video recordings and I am not much of a music person, only got about 2-3GB worth of music :p

Right, think I am going to go with the moto x for def. now! :p

You've made the right choice Nexus, seeing as you love stock Android on your N7 you will love the way Moto have virtually left their version of Android as close to stock as possible save for some applications.

A very valid point made there seeing as you already have a Nexus 7 there's no need for a larger device. Plus the fact that your storage needs aren't as focussed as myself and others the Moto X is ideal for you.

Seeing as you're looking for a new sim only contract it shouldn't be hard to get a contract which suits you. I walked into my local three store and asked a member of staff to change my micro sim to a nano sim and it was all transferred and online within 45 mins which is great going and didn't inconvenience me at all.

I have bought a micro sim to nano sim adapter which I have kept handy should I buy a device that needs a micro sim, so it isn't too much of bind if I switch devices that use different types of sim cards.

You'll be pleased with the Moto X from what I've read on different forums and reviews it has more character than the Nexus 5 plus a decent screen, which should keep you happy.

It'll be either 3 or giffgaff if you want lots of data, I don't think anyone else can touch them on price. Giffgaff doesn't have 4G yet though.

BTW, the Moto X camera doesn't have macro photography, in fact I'm not even sure what it is, but I took some close-ups of a flower cause you asked to see. Some of these are with HDR on, some with HDR off, some at x4 digital zoom, some at x3.something, 1 with zoom off. Unfortunately, because I'm an idiot, I forgot to mark which ones are HDR are which aren't, but since it sounds like you're not as clueless about photography as I am you'll probably be able to work it out by looking... :p

Yeah, think 3 seem to be the best for sim only monthly deals, bit annoying that you have to get the "one plan" for unlimited tethering though, £23 a month, was really liking the look of the £12.90 plan for 200 minutes, 5000 texts and unlimited data (but only 2GB for tether)

Won't bother with the micro sim adapters just yet unless I return the moto x :p

And yup, that is the impression that I get as well stoosh, moto x seems to have had more "thought" put into it with the overall software experience, hardware and build/design

Just been looking through the android central forum for "post your photos" by both the nexus 5 and moto x and both of them produce great shots, I personally think the nexus 5 look quite a bit better when the HDR+ is being used though and overall less noise which is always nice.

If only the nexus 5 had the screen of the nexus 7 2013!

Thanks for the photos :)

Tip = never EVER use zoom on phones :p

And yeah by macro, I mainly just meant "up close", with most other phones, you get presets for macro, day light, night/low light etc. which help sometimes.

Wow! Nexus18 has chosen a new phone :)

I didn't get the new camera app on my moto x from play store. Should it auto install?

Took me over 3! :p

BTW is there any way to lower video resolution in the default camera app? I really don't need 720p video!

I tried the new Google Camera app, it doesn't offer anything over the Motorola one except for photo sphere, which is a bit of a silly gimmick. And that doesn't let you take lower-res photos and videos either.

Not 2 years!!!!

Only really been "properly" looking at new phones for the past month.

Have been toying with the idea of moving to all the new ones that have been mentioned over the 2 years but never for long as I didn't want to spend £400+ on a phone and imo they weren't worth that much coming from the 1s.

Nope, moto camera app is different to the stock google camera app, you will need to manually install it from the play store.

As for changing video recording res. with moto app, nope! :p (and it records at 1080P, slow motion is captured at 720P).

;)

Although another friend there has just got the Nexus 5 and in all honesty the Nexus 5 screen looks great IMO, not quite as saturated as the Nexus 7 and viewing angles are pretty good, only go of from extreme angles, speaker didn't sound anywhere as bad as that pocketnow video so going to go with the nexus 5 since it has a better camera overall especially in low light.

Are there different screens on the Nexus 5's then? The two I've tried both looked quite badly washed out, and the viewing angles were very poor. That's not comparing it to AMOLED either, just the iPhone/HTC One.

It is still a nice phone though, especially for the price. Are you getting a red one? :p

Wouldn't be surprised if there are different supplier's. The majority of reviews also praise the nexus 5 screen and don't seem to mention about poor viewing angles.

The only area where the nexus 5 looks poor is the blacks.

HTC one, nexus 7 etc. Are better for viewing angles and colours but there isn't a huge difference IMO.

Hell no! :p although the white one is actually rather nice in "real life", reminds me of the white one x but as usual black all the time for me :p
