*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

They are awful to be fair, first controller in all my years of gaming I've ever had issue with. My current one has thumb grips on it but suffers from a squeaking R2 which I Can fix with WD40, and the L1 started clicking and sticking but that too was an easy fix.
Point is, I shouldn't have to be fixing a controller after a few months,

Nobody should have to.

All manufacturers factor in yield losses. Be interesting to see the numbers, though of course we never will. Sony probably pass consequentials back to the suppliers and assemblers anyway..assuming they don't manufacture them in house.

i had to send one controller back to sony due to rubber wearing away and splitting, i have 2 controllers and now either the replacement or the other (cannot tell which one it is) now has some slight wear and tear on the rubber, waiting for it to fully split though.

i purchased 20 thumbsticks off ebay and a technicians screwdriver set off amazon though, total cost about £20 but at postage of £3 odd each time and being without a controller for up to 2-3 weeks at a time, i'd rather fix them myself.

i may wait until 11 months after launch and then send both back with faulty sticks to hopefully get a newer revision of the DS4, you would think that they would have fixed it by then.

Not sure if it has been posted but guess what's happening Easter Monday... Maintenance!
Apparently it will be from 5:30pm to 11:30pm...

A few hours of down time doesn't bother me but doing it on a bank holiday is just ridiculous. We have 8 bank holidays a year, what's wrong with doing maintenance on some of the other 357 days?

There many updates to this thing since Christmas?

I got about 16 days till I use it again, so might as well prep up if theres a ton of d/l's to do.

Don't worry PS4 is smart with updates. Updating games like BF4 might take more time but you still can play whilst downloading.

MS manage not to take down live.

if you log into the network before 5.30pm guess what?

you experience zero downtime so long as you don't switch games iirc.

so if your playing BF4 at 5PM you can continue to play it for the next 8 hours so long as you stay logged in.

it's just all new connections which are stopped from connecting.

also it happens at peak UK time because they don't want it to effect the Japanese or American markets, they value them more, not surprising either tbh with them being a Japanese company and trying to break MS's dominance over America.

also another thing is that they could schedule it for 5.30PM - 11.30PM or whatever but sometimes they get it all done within 3 hours, so it could be down just 5.30-8.30.

It's not the time that's the issue it's the day. Why on a bank holiday? They should delay it a day and do it next tuesday.

I have to agree with him... psn for many ps4 users is now a paid for service.. downtime shouldn't happen, realise it's for new features, but it always seems to be when UK is on holiday or weekends, peak playing times for many UK players.. oh well, as said, try login before the outage...
