Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th April - 22nd April 2014]

First time in 44 years that Everton have won home & away, in a single season, against Man Utd.

Impressive.

Yet another negative record, under Moyes' tenure.

The crazy thing is that some fans want him to be given £200M to spend.
If I were the chairman and he even dared asked me for money, I'd tell him to prove that he is good enough to be given £200M and if he doesnt think he can, he should resign with immediate effect.

Moyes is completely out of his depth and I've been saying this since we played Fulham, at OT, and one of their defenders likened our play to a Conference side. This was when I realised that Moyes is incapable of ever being a top manager.

Carragher is spot on, Utd have no plan at all. Last season I was happy to stand by Rodgers as it was clear what we were trying to achieve, despite finishing 7th. I have no idea what Moyes is doing, and I don't think he does either.

Yup, I've said it over and over again. I won't care if a new manager comes to Arsenal and we do worse for a bit before improving. It's about seeing how the team is improving, seeing a plan and a method. AVB showed no improvement at all in Spurs or Chelsea, they just got worse with no fundamental change, poor tactics and not fixing obvious mistakes. Moyes is doing the same, he's made them worse but there is no sign anywhere of improvement. They aren't getting used to some brilliant new system that when it clicks could win them titles, he was for a long time utterly awful using the same system and same players.

More recently he's finally moved Rooney out of the number 10 role, which marginally improved them but then they played worse teams. Against better opposition they still look awful. It's not about necessarily how badly you do, it's about why you're doing worse and where the improvement will come from. With Rodgers and Everton the improvement's were obvious even when results sometimes went against them and they had the odd poor game.

Moyes Utd are just rubbish, they are worse in every part of the pitch, in attitude, in mentality, in results, defending, offence, everything is worse.

And, let's not forget, we had even longer to prepare for this game than Everton. :/

It wasn't just today though, in fact today what you tried to do was clearer in terms of playing a possession game. Generally though I don't know what type of team Moyes wants United to be.

Moyes has still got a very respectable away record this

I remember when you rubbished my suggestion that Man Utd have no chance of winning the title.

After that you stated that 4th place was on (only a few weeks ago). Once again, I stated that this was impossible, as Moyes was poor.

At what point will you accept that Moyes is not capable of winning the league?

How many negative records will it take?

That is false really though, Everton sat back and let us have lots of the ball. We passed it sideways 90% of the time and posed no threat. It was entirely tactical by Martinez.

So no, nothing good today at all.

Moyes "we were brilliant passing, controlled the game and played very well in the first half"

HAHAAHAHAHHAHAHA

No, you were completely crap, completely useless, Everton ALLOWED you the ball so you came forward so they could break on you. Had everton finished better it could have been 4 or 5 nil, easily.

I agree, but at least Moyes seemed to have a plan...it was just a terrible one.

loving Dwight Yorke and Carragher. Dwight seems like he wants to smack him in the gob. Do it!

Jamie Carragher is spot on here, you can tell he feels sorry for us as well. Even him. :o

Don't fool yourself. No one feels sorry for you :p

I found the "behind the scenes we're doing everything possible to make a team to get back to the top four as soon as possible".... well number one on that list is the owners talking to new managers :p

Nothing he says sounds positive. It really is strange. All of his comments are laced with "oh well, fingers crossed and we'll try".

Great comment from Carragher.

I said earlier, and it's something Carragher for me got slightly wrong, is that possession without creating chances can still be useful IF it's denying the opposition chances. Barca even at times they don't look threatening control possession(and when they are playing well) they can completely deny the opposition the ball. Utd had possession but consistently conceded it carelessly.

This wasn't possession because Everton couldn't get the ball off Utd or Utd weren't putting passes astray. This was possession because Everton nicked the ball and got into a position to shoot in 15 seconds and Utd took 2 minutes to give it back to Everton to do it again.

Having possession as a positive thing needs to be creating chances for your team, or denying your opposition from posing any danger, or both. Utd did none of that. They had the ball, created nothing and allowed the opposition chance after chance after chance.

If utd had 70% possession for 75mins and everton were restricted to 1-2 chances, then Utd changed it up and went for the win, then even without making chances that 75mins of possession would have been useful, but it's not remotely what Utd did.
