It's a disgrace. I drove out to buy some toilet paper this morning, burned at least 1000% more fuel than necessary to find a shop that was open.

Religion is a drain on society.

So you live something like a 1000 miles from a 7-11?

Did you not realise it was Easter Sunday, why not buy toilet paper yesterday?

Anyway, banning religion?...well that's ok if you support removing people's freedoms of conscience and other basic human rights. Personally I don't support those things, so feel that people should be free to believe and think as they choose to. If I wanted to live in a society that deems it acceptable to control what people can think, I would move to somewhere like China or North Korea.

I think the world would be a better place if religion didn't exist, but I wouldn't support it being outlawed. Partly for practical reasons - such a ban couldn't be wholly implemented without a totalitarian state and a partial implementation would foster extremism. Partly for philosophical reasons - I think it's a bad idea to outlaw thoughts.

I do think it should be illegal for religion to have any part in the law or government or politics. I realise that it's impossible to implement the last two because theists would bring their religion with them, but reasonable steps should be taken to exclude religion from them. Religion should be personal, not political.

The world wouldn't be a better place without religion, we'd still be highly evolved monkeys with the same fear, paranoia and jealously in regards to anything different from the norm. We'd just have something else to fight about.

no it should not, no valid reasons for a ban.

i agree it should play no part in law etc however

It's difficult to think of anything more guaranteed to make religion more popular than banning it. Religions always thrive on persecution. I mean real persecution, not the loss of special privilege that Christians in this country like to refer to persecution. Even if you think religion is silly, banning it will just make it more popular.
